  1. Thank you for the video that was very helpful! Sorry I deleted too much and didn't give quite enough info. There is not a room on the second floor (in that area - there is a room over the garage), that dormer section is just for looks. I checked the default wall bottom height box and also did the tray the other way around it it worked, it let me extend the wall all the way out again! That's all i needed - i just couldn't get that dormer wall to extend all the way out. Sorry this plan is a bit of a mess, i am clearly not an architect but this plan has been modified so many times (client keeps changing various things) - when i get it where they are happy i am probably going to draw it over from scratch. thank you for your help!
  2. I deleted a bunch and zipped it. Thank you D plan help.zip
  3. How do I save it small enough to attach?
  4. If someone could offer a little advice I'd sure appreciate it! I have a dormer above this one story house i'm drawing (did not use dormer tools). When i added in a tray ceiling in the room below the dormer it erased part of my dormer wall! I cannot figure out how to get my whole wall back....help
  5. Can someone please give me some advice on importing materials? I often cannot find a good brick color (lots of nice and realistic stone options in my Buechel catalog, but the brick options are severely lacking). So I often try to import a brick using an image but it never looks realistic. Can anyone give me some tips for importing brick?
  6. Thank you Eric! That was it, 2 of the walls had 'no room definition'. thanks!
  7. Can anyone offer some advice? I am trying to do a second floor over a garage. I drew it in manually instead of letting it duplicate the first floor into a second floor. My issue is it is not recognizing the second floor - I cannot select it to give it a label. When I open the build framing tab it's grayed out so I cannot select 'build subfloor' for 2 or 'build ceiling framing' for 2. Can someone point out where I might have gone wrong?
  8. Can someone explain to me what the brick calculation in the material list is actually listing? Is it the number of bricks?? For lap siding it says #ft (can someone also confirm this is linear feet?) but for brick it just gives a large number. If this is in fact listing the number of bricks can someone tell me how to change it to perhaps a square feet calculation? I need to note on this set of plans the percentages of lap siding and brick siding. Thank you in advance!
  9. I got it, thank you. I was going about it all wrong!
  10. No luck. See picture attached. I successfully changed the window label and room label fonts but the text I added to note the transoms won't change. I don't know if I am missing the setting and not changing it or if I changed it but it's not updating??
  11. Can someone please tell me how to change my text font after I've already made notes all over my plan? I don't like the way the generic chief font looks when printed, but I don't want to go through and click on every single notation I've made to change the font. I've changed the defaults (unless I'm missing the correct one), I got the room labels to change by changing the default settings but no luck with just regular text here and there. Any guidance would be appreciated!
  12. Can someone share with me how to create an image like this? Of all the buttons in the camera - vector, standard, duo, technical etc, none of them produce a nice clean, clear, plain image like this that I would really like for my construction documents. Thank you in advance for your help!
  13. It won't let me drag it to the correct angle / in line with my walls. Is there a way to draw a custom cabinet? I tried to draw a polyline and convert it but I haven't figured out how to convert to a cabinet.
  14. dshall - chopsaw (also in the above thread) has created a tool for this. get in touch with him. Lauren
  15. Can someone tell me how to clip the corner of this cabinet so it will follow the shape of the wall? None of the available cabinet shapes fit this space and I can't find anything in the chief tutorials. Thanks!
  16. Is anyone offering a monolithic slab automation tool? Looking to be able to easily and quickly reference / display my total slab footage as well as separate out garage, porches, etc.
  17. Can I change all my outside trim color at once without changing the inside trim also? And vise versa. When I choose floor or plan mode it also changes the inside trim color.
  18. When zooming in it will glitch/freeze/lag. I have a generated wall in a gable that is showing on the first floor when in working/plan mode, only way to get it off my view is to delete it but of course it deletes the wall, if i put it back-same thing. I was just zooming around the exterior in camera mode and it said critical error - i had to shut down and restart the whole program. I'm not having these issues with any other plans. I can definitely change the colors of the walls in display but given the other issues i was thinking maybe i couldn't just open old Designer files, i was thinking maybe i had to import or convert them or something. Since that's not the case i'm not sure what's up. I'd really like to upload the file however I had two plans stolen last year (ugh) and i'm sure 99% of people on here are great but I love this plan and don't want to take any chances.
  19. David - sorry, just abbreviating. I'm using Chief Architect 11 and was referring to Chief Architect Designer
  20. It's glitchy. I was just working on one and it actually said i had a critical error, i had to shut the whole thing down. I really don't think it's my computer, it's only a year old and i'm not having issues with anything else - or even any other plans.
  21. Can someone tell me how to convert a CA Designer plan to Chief Architect? I had Designer for a bit and now using A 11. When i just open a plan i previously worked on in Designer the walls i insert in Architect are a different color but most of all i seem to have technical difficulties with these plans.
  22. This was the response from Technical Support, note i replied back that i was very surprised a software this nice and expensive didn't have this included, and i hope it will be added via an update at some point. Thank you Eric, i will look into Ruby. Thank you Dshall, i will look into both you mentioned, i also need this for every home i do and will definitely need a better solution than adding each room up individually with a calculator. "Unfortunately, these are not included in our program. A few workarounds would be to use CAD boxes/polylines to outline the area you want to calculate the square footage of and then when you open the CAD box/polyline it'll give you the area. If there are some that are disconnected, you'll just have to manually add them together and use a text box to show that square foot number of it all added up. The article below will show you all the ways we can calculate square footage. Changing how Square Footage is Calculated: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00424/changing-how-square-footage-is-calculated.html "
