  1. I decided to go with the Acer Nitro 5 17.3" Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti - 512GB SSD for $750 at BB. Setup to be easily upgradable for memory and storage - will likely be adding some more RAM and possibly a SATA drive. Thank you all for your input. I have an inquiry to Tech Support regarding the use of an external drive if needed - will update once I receive the response.
  2. My old Dell XPS (435MT) desktop no longer has the video card capabilities that I need since I upgraded to X12. Given the age of the desktop (and its components), I feel that I have no other choice but to bite the bullet and upgrade. I mainly work at my home office connected to two 24" monitors, but also need the portability of a laptop at times. Looking for a budget option so considering the Dell G3 15 for $850 with the upgrade to i7 5GHz 6 cores. However, it doesn't seem like an easy option to upgrade the SSD size without paying much more. Could I get by with the 256GB SSD and then use an external hard drive for files other than programs (e.g. libraries on Chief Architect, plan and layout files, pictures, video, etc.)? Would this work, or would this type of setup slow the system since it has to access from an external drive? Thanks in advance for any input.
  3. Do you know if you can use chief architect files interchangeably between a PC and a MAC? I use a PC desktop but would like to be able to open the files and work on them with a MacBook when I am not at the house. Can you use the plan files on a PC and then open on a MAC and then go back to a PC without any issues?
  4. Joey, I have been using my USB removable drive to take plans back and forth from home PC to business PC, but have run into a bit of lag when using the save button now on the windows 10 plus X7. I know I shouldn't be using the USB removable drive so much - so I am intrigued about how well dropbox works for you - which pricing plan are you using - the business?
  5. Thank you all so much for all of your input. I will have to give the X6 demo a try and see if it is worth the extra dough. Thanks again!
  6. I have been using X3 for a while now (started out with X1) and was wondering if it is worth the $1200 cost to upgrade to X6. I am unsure of all the changes from X3 to X6 but my overall goal would be time saving changes. I only draw house plans on the side now on my days off from my full time nursing job so time saving is again a goal. Any input is greatly appreciated.
