I'm trying to make a shed roofed wall dormer manually while following the "Creating a Manual Wall Dormer" tutorial.
I've gone as far as the step pictured in the first screen shot; creating break points in the roof so that I can pull it back to create the dormer roof.
The problem is whenever I select the break tool, it deselects the roof and won't allow me to create break points.
Is there some setting I need to change?

Did you also check Build Roof Planes, or Auto Rebuild Roofs in the build roof dialog?
Yes, I did.

What are you seeing? Are all of your rooms properly defined as in closed with room defining walls instead of attic walls? Do you have a room on an attic level? Is the roof not showing up anywhere? Some screenshots with a snipping tool and a plan file would help get you some results I am sure.
Here is a picture of the project. No, the roof isn't showing up at all.

Are you looking via a FLOOR OVERVIEW camera or a FULL OVERVIEW camera?
Has the roof been defined?
Are the associated roof layer turned on in the camera view?
I'm plan view.
How do I define the roof?

Hello,
I searched the forum, but couldn't find anything on this topic, so I apologize in advance if this has been answered many times already:
I'm following the Chief Architect tutorial for Generating a Roof on Multiple Levels of a Structure. I did all the steps correctly and clicked OK on the "Build Roof" dialogue box. Then nothing happened.
The tutorial showed an automatically generated roof on top of the house, but nothing happened for me.
Help Please :/

ok... how do you notch the roof plane?
i'm sorry, i'm a beginner, so i'm a little slow
-
how do i do that?

I'm sorry... i'm not very good with trying to describe things.

Well....i want to lower the window just a little bit....and keep the dormer itself the way it was before i "created room" in the dormer....there will be a window seat below that window.
-
Well.... it opened up the ceiling and the floor, so now i can look up into the attic and down to the first floor
-
Thanks!
I'll try that.

sorry
When i try to attach my plan, it says that my file is too big...
-
it says that the Dormer is selected.
i select the dormer, and then the "Dormer Specification" box comes up. then i click "Walls" and i type in a different number into the "Height" box and it just makes the window a different size and doesn't allow me to move the window up. when i just put it the dormer, it allows me to move the window higher, past the ceiling, but not when i make the wall smaller than 60" (the default height).
-
....when i try to adjust the height, it just shortens or lengthens the window.....

Thanks!

Hello,
I am trying to put dormers in my house model, and it keeps doing this weird thing.
i use the "Automatic Floating Dormer" tool, and i place it where i want it, but then when i look at it in the 3D view, it's all wonky. The window sits way up high, and i can see the roof layers beneath it!!
when i move the window down, i see the plywood and stuff through it
here are screen shots:
