  1. Hi Folks,

I am manually drawing a plot plan using the CAD line tools.  I've been told I can easily do this using the point to point resize tool.  The plot is a sample square with very slight angles.  So, I believe the "draw line" would work.  I've had limited success with the input method.  Anyway, after I've drawn my "box", I now want to go back and resize the dimensions to actually match the survey I have.  However, I was told I could use the point to point resize to do this, but I cannot find this option/tool.

Can someone point me in the right direction showing the icon, and how to access it.

    I'm using X8.

    Thnx always

    Roz

  2. Just wanted to thank everybody again.  You all helped me greatly figure this out.

Chrisbb,  many thanks as well.  I'd never thought to change directions and never knew CA assumed one direction for input.  Makes sense though.

    Appreciate you all.

  3. Thanks everyone for your help.  I'm almost there.  I was able to use Chopsaw's plan as a "good enough" plot plan.

I now want to bring in my house plan footprint onto this plot plan (named KIDD RAMBLE in CAD Detail Mgt).  However, when I do so CA brings in my house footprint but WITH ANOTHER previously drawn plot plan associated with it.  I don't know how to "dissociate" my house plan with the other plot plan.  In other words, I want to bring in my house plan footprint onto the "KIDD RAMBLE" plot plan.  But when I do this, I get another plot plan in addition to my house plan. So confusing!!!!

    My X8 plan is attached.

    Thanks again ya'll.  Much appreciated.

  4. Hello everyone.  I have tried for hours to create a plot with the following measurements, and had zero success.  Attached is a pic of the plot w/dimensions.

I use X8.  I'm hoping someone can plug these numbers in to see what I'm doing wrong.  I really hoping I don't have incorrect measurements from the Surveyor.

    1. 328.66' (N 32 06 29 W)
    2. 357.36' (N 31 29 59 E)
    3. 215.55' (S 75 08 45 E)
    4. 34.59' (N 72 08 36 W)
    5. 30.20' (S 76 15 03 W)

    6. 126.16' (S 49 36 16 W)

    Thanks always.

  5. Solver,

For the polyline solids, can I slope them?  I've never worked with them before.  I was able to finally get the vaulted ceiling using glennw's idea.  Now, I just need to place beams using either polyline solids or soffits.  New plan is attached.

Can you create one beam using either soffit or polyline solid following the sloped ceiling?  I can learn from this and do the rest.

Thanks again folks.  You're always a life saver.

  6. Hi Folks,

I'm trying to figure out how to create a vaulted ceiling in the Family Rm on this plan.  I want slopped soffit beams.  I can't seem to get the ceiling to slope properly.  Attached pic shows the direction I want the beams to run.  I watched the video below, but my ceiling won't properly slope like the video.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thx everyone

  7. Good Evening Folks,

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the tile shingles in the attached plan and change to regular composite shingles.  This plan originally came from a design that used tile shingles, but I've since deleted that plan and create this new one.  However, the tile shingles are still set somewhere.  Sounds trivial but I can't figure out how to revert back to composite shingles.

    I'm using X8.

    Thanks

    Roz

  8. Happy Friday everyone.  I am struggling with a design whose terrain is sloped.  The foundation at the front of the house should start at 0" and go to 6' at the rear.  I am adding a pool like in the rendering by a pool designer and with her software (Pool Studio??) she was able to properly depict how my lot slopes (and how my foundation height increases towards the rear) giving a true representation of how the pool, patio, yard will look.

I'm trying to "reproduce" this in CA as much as possible...partially so I can learn the correlation between terrain, and foundations in CA.  I am struggling with this.  I am attaching my plan and the pool rendering to give an idea of what I'm talking about.  If anyone is able to edit my plan to include a terrain starting at 0" and going to 6' at the rear of my plan *and* add a concrete slab (like in the photo...which also follows the sloping terrain), I'D BE ABSOLUTELY IN YOUR DEBT.  I've reviewed, read, followed along with several tutorials and I must admit I'm no expert but still struggle with this.

I thank you kindly in advance.  I realize this is a major ask.  I am using X8.

  9. Thanks for the quick reply, Eric.

I thought I could create the terrain sloped like I did and draw the house, and have Chief create a foundation that 'followed' the slope of the terrain.  The floor of the house would all be level at 0', but the slab/foundation would stagger.
