Thanks also for the reply, That was my first suspicion as well. The objects are on the "CAD, Default" layer which is turned on in both plan files.

Kbird, Thank you for your reply. For some reason I don't even have those layers in this plan file. I even opened a new file in X14 and it doesn't have these layers either. Not sure why mine is different or what I may be missing.

Thanks a lot Solver, This is the issue exactly. I don't know why they are polyline solids either as I actually started this plan file back in 2019 with CA X10 or X11. I may have originally intended to extrude them. However when I use the selection method that you describe I am able to select them and modify the properties to be 1/16 tall. This causes them to display like normal and I am able to select them easily. I also converted them back to simple polylines for ease of future editing. I do not know if this is a bug or a feature of the conversion to 3D solids.

I have a plan where I have drawn polylines to represent I beams in the plan views. If I open the file in X13, the polylines are displayed, but the same file in X14 does not display the polyline nor does it allow me to select the polyline. It is as if the polyline disappears in X14. Is this part of the updates in X14 and if so, is there a new setting that I am not aware of? Thank you all in advance

Creating layout Pages that do not print

Thanks a lot for the responses. I like the idea of inserting PDF files. My concern is scaling. I can print them to scale from AutoCAD native files but if I insert PDF files, how can I ensure that they print to correct scale? is that a trial and error process? Insert print, scale, then adjust? Is there a method that I'm not familiar with? Thanks again for the replys. -
I have a small commercial project with civil files created by a Civil Engineering firm on their title block. I would like to include their drawings on my sheet index on my title page for the entire project. I have created a blank page for each of the civil sheets in the project browser and checked the box "Include in Layout Page Table". I would like to be able to have these sheets listed but I don't want them to print. Is there a way to tell Chief to not print these sheets, but include them on the sheet index? I suppose the easiest fix is to just create a sheet index with text and manage it by hand, but hoping for an automated solution. Thanks in advance.2150plan-3.layout

CA 11 is not printing images from the layout

Thank you all very much again for your time. I figured out the issue. It is not with Chief but with the way that I was working with HP's driver installation. The software from HP loads a utility on the computer and you have to run the utility separately. Every time in the past that I've installed a driver the executable file will install the drivers then a quick re-boot an you're up and running. This one installs a utility that will then install the drivers for you. After running this utility and re-booting I now have the correct new driver and all is well again. Thank you again for your time. maybe this thread will help the next guy who has this driver issue with HP. -
CA 11 is not printing images from the layout

Thank you all for the replies. Here is a PDF printed from "Chief Architect save as PDF" and you can clearly see the "AIBD" logo and the NCBDC stamp as well. These are both inserted as image files into the layout. They are on the bottom of the title sheet and on the upper right hand corner of each drawing sheet. They show up on the PDF file but not the paper printed file as you can see in the attached pictures. 301103plan.pdf -
I've recently purchased a new computer and installed Chief Architect 11. Everything is loaded and working except when I print I do not get any of the jpeg images. All of the line weights seem thinner than expected also. I have an HP designjet T120 printer and have downloaded the latest drivers and rebooted my computer. The printer is working properly for other software so now I'm thinking something is wrong on the Chief Architect side. Is there a setting that I've forgotten to change or is there something I need to do to initiate a new printer driver? Any help is appreciated.

I found this thread after struggling with the same issue. There are lots of good suggestions and information here. I can concur with Alaskan_Son that this works in X10 but it didn't work for me in X9. Unless I'm still doing something wrong in X9 it is still a bug. X10 works beautifully though.

OK so as long as the sub facia is smaller than the facia, the soffit board will be behind the facia. I assume that the term subfacia is referring to the member that is directly behind the facia, and I guess I had incorrectly assumed that the soffit board was fastened to the lookout. I'm learning that Chief is a very intuitive software, as long as you know how it thinks. That's what I've been learning and again, I appreciate all of your times to help a newbie.

OK I didn't see Solver's answer that is it. I assumed that was the role of the look out, but I see the logic of the subfacia. Thank you all very much.

You may have to zoom in to see my settings. I want the facia to be 1x6 and I assumed that the lookout is what determined the soffit position so I made them 2x4's. Joe you're saying that the soffit follows the rafter size? hmmm. I shouldn't have to change the rafter size to control the soffit I wouldn't think, maybe there is something I'm missing.

My soffits are not lining up with my facia. It seems to be floating beneath it. I've tried every setting I can think of and searched for posts on the forum. Any help here is appreciated. 100702-1.zip
