  1. Question #1: Is there a way to group objects together? I drew an elevation of a baluster using lines and arcs. I'd like to group these objects together and I thought I could create a CAD block, but I when I select the object, there is no icon at the bottom for creating a CAD block.

Question #2: When I am successful in making a CAD block, I would like to be able to resize it in one dimension and then explode it, but it won't let me. In my old drafting program I was able to do this and found it to be quite useful. Is there no way to accomplish this in CA?

for me ,I use a min of 18 and black. those sand dots are awful small

You guys are both right. I did finally realize the dots themselves were only at a line weight of 1. Went to 20 and it solved the problem. Thanks!

Having your plan makes it easy to see exactly what you see, and possibly provide a solution. It also keeps someone from having to create a test plan.

solver - very good explanation. thanks for being kind about it. just so i'm clear - by posting a plan, you mean I am actually uploading my CA file, correct?

  4. A friend of mine taught me how to use the Rainbow Tool to adjust siding exposure on a siding texture. I tried it again just now and it's not working. I used the rainbow tool to click on the material and changed the height to 3.5" under specifications, but it doesn't change the texture on my model. What am I missing?

  5. Got it, thanks! The confusion for me was that you are actually building what CA is calling a "slab" as the footing and then offsetting it from the floor. I kept clicking on "has footing" and making the slab 0" and that wasn't working. Silly me, I just expected that CA would call a footing a footing. Instead they call a slab a floor and a footing a slab. Quirky. Thanks for affirming I was on the track.

  6. Thanks, everyone. I found that the plan and layout were already properly linked. I also had both plan and layout open (I had opened the plan first and then the layout - not sure if that order really matters.) So I decided on a lark to close and reopen both the layout and the plan and then the changes showed up. No problems after that. Not sure why.

  7. New to CA. I was so proud of myself for creating a layout template and sending plan views to layout. Now I've made some changes to my plan and they are not updating in layout. Not finding the answer in the training videos or here. How do I fix this?

  8. My mirror material is not reflecting. I'm new to CA and watching their introductory webinars. I followed all the instructions to make a mirror and my mirror is not reflecting. I've looked through old posts on this forum and not finding the answer. Suggestions?

  9. I'm new to CA so please bear that in mind. I created two layout templates - one for our cover sheet and one for our title block. Only after I did this did I realize that I should have created the cover sheet and title block as two different page templates in the same layout file. My question is: how do I now merge them so that the two page templates are in the same layout file?
