  1. Hi....  I need to create a Flooring Set that shows each rooms flooring graphically. I want to be able to have it show for the 'Flooring Set' but not on my dimensioned/noted floor plan set. How do I do that? Basically I need the hatch pattern to be on a separate layer that I can turn on and off.

  2. Now it's not showing up on the main level either. Hmmmmm

In the past, I've always just started with a previous plan and deleted all content to start a new project. But we appear to be having crash issues when editing sections from plans created in X8 in X9. So... with this one, I started fresh with a new plan in X9 and tried to re-create all our defaults.

I've attached the preliminary plan that's having the issue.

    Thanks

  3. I am using X9 and have either inadvertently deleted the level title and area calc or it wasn't there to begin with. I've tried unchecking it in the plan defaults, clicking ok, then re-opening it and re-checking it. I've tried re-starting CA. I've also tried the plan check in tools. Nothing brings it back. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

  4. I've been working on a project that is larger and more detailed than what I've done in the past. The client is wanting a lot of custom base, casing, etc. I've been using the 3D modeling and it's turning out well. But... Now my camera views are coming up blank or look like a wireframe.

I'm not sure if my file is corrupted or if there's a limit to how much detail or how many cameras you can have. I spent 3 hours working on details with the client and near the end, the camera views were starting to not render or render improperly. Any ideas?

    Thanks

  5. I just had a new hard drive installed AND upgraded to X9. My dimensions are displaying as 17'4.000000001" even though I have my accuracy set to 'Smallest fraction: 1/16" and NOT Decimal Places. How do I get it to display the accuracy specified in my default?

I checked the dimension and it's Primary format is the default.

    Thanks

  6. I take that back. I just opened another Version 7 plan in Version 8. This plan had trusses numbered from TR-1 up to TR-132. Once opened in Version 8 the numbering changed to TR-2 thru TR-133. It just added 1 to every truss. On a small plan, renumbering isn't such an issue but on this one it is impossible. Plus since my notes refer to the original numbering, leaving the revised numbering isn't an option.

  7. Thanks for the info but the labels did change when the version 7 file was opened in version 8. What was TR-1 became TR-2, TR-2 became TR-3, TR-3 became TR-4, and TR-4 became the next number not used which was TR-23.

Luckily I can go in and modify the labels but I would prefer not to have to make corrections and just have the file open without it automatically making adjustments behind the scenes to my framing plans.

I start new plans in version 8 but occasionally have to go back to older plans to make changes or updates. It would be nice to know that everything is remaining as I drew it when opening it in version 8.

  8. When opening a file in version 8 that was created and saved in version 7, my truss labels change. I believe it probably is due to the fact they have deleted the TR-0 (which I used to aid in layout but then always deleted).

Regardless.... do you know how to migrate a V7 file into V8 without losing my truss sequencing?

    Thanks

  9. Thanks ebdesign!!

Actually I just broke a dimension string!!!! By drawing another dimension line over one of the middle sections it deleted only that section which then left the two remaining sides as completely independant strings.

  10. Thanks for responding. My main level walls are 2x6 not 2x4 but my sill plate is 2x4 because I am laying a floor over the sill and under the main level walls. However, it appears to be trying to center the sill plates under the 2x6 walls above. My walls ext. frame surface lines up with the outside of the stem wall so that part is fine. I've attached a simple sample file.

    Thanks
