X7 windows 10 This has got to be something simple I'm not doing. On the other hand since upgrading to a new computer & to windows 10 I've had so many crashes , swirling blue spheres of death, and other bizarre glitches that I have smoke coming out my ears. Anyway to the problem at the moment. I placed a simple shed roof and drew a roof plane. I want to shape the roof plane over an offset entry. I think I have always simply used the break line tool to extend the portion of roof over the entry. Try as I might, the break tool does not work. I tested the breakwall tool on a wall and it works but yesterday after using it I couldn't get out of the breakwall tool mode and had to shut down and reopen. Please someone tell me It's a simple fix.. If it's just a matter of forgetting what I've done in the past , well........I'm getting used to that!

Well actually I just found it. Just click on camera and it will open and offer a title box.

X7 Sometimes when I send an elevation to layout it is numbered. Sometimes not. I want to eliminate the auto numbering but have not discovered how this is controlled. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Ok , I tried the line drawing view on another computer with better graphics and found no significant improvement. I assume that you and Robert are correct and I should contact CA . thank you all for your help. Jess

No I did not send another image , I thought the first would be adequate to see how views compared. It seems that what I'm hearing is that no one else is seeing the missing lines and details as I am. Could it be my graphics card as one person suggested?

Ok I sent the wrong view but this will work to show what I need. I tried different renderings to compare each. If you look at the south elevation ,which is a line drawing ,you can see the incomplete lines and detail. The most obvious is the west side upper windows area. the west wall where the windows are placed is curved which may be part of the issue. If you compare it to the north elevation, a technical drawing, you will see the lines in this area clearly. I'm just checking out the different renderings and may never use a line drawing but I'd like to understand the character of each. As I continue to learn this program I'm often confronted with things that don't act or display like I would expect. Most often I find that I'm not doing something correctly or my system is not up to the task. Thanks to all who are helping me to clarify this.

Ok here's a view. I also spoke with someone who suggested it may be that my graphics card is not up to it. It is , I believe a Radeon 4200.I have recently updated the driver. thanksguest cottage LD.plan

X7 There is some detail missing and incomplete lines in my line drawings. is this normal? I tried drawing in the incomplete lines but then it is an obvious attempt to fix with the added lines being crisp and dark. Any remedy for this ? Am I missing something here or is this something we just have to live with? Thanks for any comments.

Sorry for long delay getting back to you. Got distracted by my other life ! I'm in Ukiah about 120 mi. north of SF.Travel is not a problem for me and Carmel is nice area to visit. Regards, Jess

I am working on house design that has become more difficult than expected and beyond my scope of training. I live in an area that has limited internet service(often getting dropped) so on line training is not an option. Hoping to find a trainer that I can visit for several hours of face to face training. Alright!!! I downloaded a driver update for my video card earlier today ( from ATI site) but I just checked my driver status and it showed my old driver. I went back to ATI site and tried downloading again and it worked. And solved the problem. Thanks so much for all your time and effort.

Ok HP probook . AMD phenom N620 dual core 2.8 GHZ windows 7Pro 64 Bit 4.0 GB Ram I can't seem to attach plan. Will keep trying. I went to see if other plans were also affected and they are. But this only happens with orthographic overhead or floor views . Elevation views are fine .

I went to the legacy file ( new to me) and found everything on the menu was modified at the time I downloaded the update. This is beyond my experience , but I tried to open each menu choice but all were blank. I'm lost from here. Thanks for leading me in that direction as I have learned something else now .

yes thank you Richard . I did check that as you suggested and default sunlight was at 100 % . just wanted to clarify that the change occurred right after download. I wonder if anyone else had this problem with the update.

I downloaded an update to my ancient ATI Radeon 4200 video card as well just to see if that was a problem . No change.

Hi Richard, I haven't changed any settings. When I opened the program all was normal. When I restarted my computer after the download all was black except windows and interior walls.

windows 7 pro X7 Been awhile since I've used the program and last I heard there had been a couple glitches in the newest update so I waited until today to download it . Now everything is black That is the entire structure and terrain. I checked display options and found all designated black. I changed some colors to see if that was the problem but the black remains with no change. Shouldn't have waited until I needed to use the program to do the update. I'm assuming this is the problem Hope someone can help me out with this as I should be working today!
