  1. Solver - I guess I did't realize the winder didn't' need be be unchecked in a u-shape stair. I didn't even know what a winder was until a few days ago. The good thing about Chief is it forces you to learn things about construction (young designer, almost everything is new to me). Thanks for your help!
  2. Solver, Here is a new zipped file. Bolles_Schematic_Final.zip
  3. Hello, I am having issues with an open u-shape stair design. The tread is stretching to be the entire width of the stairwell. I have looked at my stair defaults, but cannot find anything. What is wrong? Is there a way to build manually? It will be a stacked, open, u-shape staircase. Attached is the image of the problem and my .ca file. Thank you in advance for your time and help! 4. Eric, Thank you for all of your time and help today. I can get the dormer to look correctly on the exterior - it is getting it to cut the ceiling so that you can see the dormer and window from the interior as well. I thought it was automatic (skylight has setting to automatically cut hole in the ceiling - except that mine is greyed out so I'm not sure if it it is set to do this or not). D. Hall, A video would be great! Dormers are a pain in the you know what....I seem to have more problems that not when trying to do a dormer.
  5. Eric, Can you try this one? Sorry for all of the confusion. I've come a long way in C.A., but there is much further to go! Cosgrove_Remodel + Addition_Prelim.zip
  6. Eric, Any chance you can look at the skylight over the master bath? I decided to delete the skylight you adjusted. I did what you said over the master bath skylight and no luck. I also tried the same thing with the skylight you adjusted, and didn't have any luck. ? What the heck am I doing wrong?
  7. Solver, Version has been updated in Signature, please see attached for new zip file. Cosgrove_Remodel + Addition_Prelim.zip
  8. Hello Brilliant C.A. Users! In the attached file, please take a look at the skylight over the Master Bath on the 2nd floor. It is not automatically cutting a whole in the ceiling plan. In the open object dialog box, the ceiling hole selections are grayed out, so I assume it has something to do with this. Cosgrove_Remodel + Addition_Prelim.zip
  9. What about having the base molding within the doorway? Is there an easier way to do this than using a custom molding line?
  10. Mick & Eric, Thank you! I think I have some layers set at 0" from a C.A. training video (who knows where I saw it or what version of C.A. it was). I had wondered if it was that. I'll make these adjustments and see how it works!
  11. Hello! I am an X9 user, but have not yet made the recent update. Having issues with my wall surfaces showing in the the camera views. The interior wall type has a layer to include the paint color (of whatever the main wall color will be). There are a few walls where we will be using shiplap. I make this change in the materials section of the wall dialog box. This change in not showing correctly in all of the camera views. - Elevation View: The color and pattern/texture show up fine. - Orothographic View: The pattern/texture shows fine but the color is off, and only shows correctly dependent on the angle of the camera. - Perspective View: It mostly shows insulation texture. It also depends on the angle of the camera. As you move the camera around parts of the wall get washed out by 'light'. Why is this happening? File is attached. The floor plan I am talking about is the furthest left. PPC_Schematics.plan
  12. I think these both look quite nice. I can see how improved the designs will be as I get to know chief better.
  13. Perry - that is what I am planning to do - start new projects in X9. I can't wait to check it out!
  14. Eric, Thank you so much for all of your feedback. May I bother you for one more questions. What should I research to fix my wall alignment issues? This project has been one issue after another, so I'll keep it in X8 for now...We don't need anything else to delay the timeline. Thanks, much!
  15. Eric, Are the alignment issues mostly with the roof design? I've been using Chief for a little less than a year. While I've learned a lot, there is still a lot to learn! I have not yet upgraded to X9, as I was worried it may cause issues to my current projects. When I upgrade, will I still have access to X8?
  16. No, I do not understand the ceiling heights. I have two ceiling planes in this room, to create a vaulted ceiling. When I build automatic roofs the style to hip.
  17. Eric, are you saying just the sunroom roof will autobuild, or the entire house?
  18. Oh, duh - thank you, Perry! Attached is the ZIP Folder 10600 Belmont Rd_Permit.zip
  19. Hello! In the attached file, please take a look at my West Exterior Dimension. Why is my gable wall being sliced (to not show the siding layer)? So...that's another problem; my file is too large to upload. Any tips on what to purge or how to compress my file?
  20. Wonderful! Easy fix! Thanks so much!
  21. Hello! I created a cad detail from a section view. I needed to align the footings with the posts. I moved the footing lines over, but there is a rectangle remaining in the old location. I cannot select the lines in order to delete or move. Thoughts?
  22. Hello All, We have the side of a garage facing the front elevation. We are placing a window in the attic for front curb appeal. The only place this window shows up in on the attic floor plan. How do I get it to show on the main level floor plan, or even the roof plan, in order to dimension it. Your help is appreciated! Anna
  23. Hello All, My room label text is offset from the room label box. This is driving my nuts, as I often move the room labels around and with the offset, I never know where I need to grab or I end up grabbing the wrong room label. Example image attached. Anna
  24. Rob, yes, that is what I am referring to. I will try that. I was hoping there would be automatic call out markets and what not. I will have to create my own. Thank you much! Anna
