Jatmobile
Hi all! Newbie here. Not new to the engineering or DIY world, although not a PE myself. I have created plans for a home addition and I need structural analysis done on the ridge beam design, such that I can then submit the designs to my township for permits. Currently, the project is with a surveying engineer for grading plans. I am located in Voorhees, New Jersey. Thanks in advance. Geyatautsilvsgi
If you have a "vaulted" ceiling, you can do "scissor" trusses and the truss engineer will sign off on the trusses. However, if you are going for a complete "cathedral" look with the ceiling being more or less the underside of the rafters then yeah... you will need an engineer to help with that.
