Stairs & room crown molding

Hello,

1. I am not sure how to delete the crown molding in the area of the stairs and for the rest of the room have the molding return 

cleanly on itself to the wall. Any other observations on how to improve on the stairs themselves--and the railings---would also be very helpful.

 

2. Would I use roof groups for the bay projections on the main floor, or is there another way to separate the main roof from these two bump outs 

or verandahs (yet to come).

I think I 'sort of' figured out the moulding issue:I have to use a couple of room dividers to separate out the areas that 

I want crowns in with the new area of the stairs themselves that should not have crowns cutting through the stairs....seems to work.

Have yet to figure out a return for the entrance hall area crowns. 

Any other ideas---better ones than mine, no doubt, would be very welcome.
