Toggle object orientation with hotkey

Hi,

I am looking for a way to toggle the orientation of an object before placing it. For example, when I have a base cabinet on my cursor I can see the orientation but I can't toggle it before placement if I am placing it in the middle of a kitchen floor for an island (when it isn't snapping to a wall). It would be great if there was a hotkey that would toggle the orientation in 90 degree increments before placing the object instead of having to place it then select it and then drag the rotate handle around the 90 degrees. Hopefully this functionality exists!

 

Also, it would also be awesome to be able to toggle through the x,y,z planes when trying to select an object so that it moves in the desired direction when moved.
