X17 Managed Mode Reference Display from different project

In X17 Managed mode is there a way to reference display a plan file from a different project? 

I am trying to show a neighborhood of different floor plans next to each other. In x16 it was easy as you could reference display any open plan file. X17 it will only reference display from the same project.

As you have indicated there are link rules based on project context.  A plan or layout within a project is allowed to link to plans and layouts within the same project.

 

Also note that plans inside of the "Common Documents" location can be linked to by plans and layouts inside of any project.  That might help enable what you are trying to accomplish.
