Jambruins
Attached are two plans. One with the temporary dimensions settings how I want them and one where they are not right. I would like it so when I click on an exterior wall it shows me the outside of wood stud to outside of wood stud dimension and when I click on interior walls it shows me the gypsum to gypsum dimension. I when to default settings and played around with those but I either get the exterior dimensions to be like I want but not the interior or vice versa. I don't want to revert back to the correct temporary dimension plan because I have updated the one where the temporary dimensions are not correct to be the template I want to use. Thanks for the help. house with correct temporary dimension settings.zip house with incorrect temporary dimensions settings.zip

kellyh
So, right off the bat, when I've downloaded your plans, both are behaving the same way. They both are set to go to dimension to the wall surface instead of the wall dimension layer. If you change that in your default settings, that should get it closer to working the way that you want it to. To do that, go to Default Settings->Dimensions->Temporary Dimensions and change the "With Wall Selected" option to "Locate Wall Dimension Layer" It's possible to change what layer is the Wall Dimension layer on a wall type by wall type basis. That may be a better/closer solution to what you're trying to accomplish. Here is a Knowledge Base article covering the process: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00658/specifying-which-wall-layer-dimensions-locate.html
