Attic wall issues at covered patio

I have a covered patio where I am using 8x8 posts with beams. I want the beam to return back to the wall so I have the patio extending beyond to accomodate the thickness. I can't seem to get a clean look and my attic walls end up doing all sorts of interesting things. I have been doing patios as a room but I noticed on some of the CA example plans, they just use a solid and add a roof with posts, not sure if that is the key or not. I have the plan as well as a screen shot of the area (should help my horrible description seem more clear).
