framing error at roof overhang

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what is causing this???  I have attached the file as well as a couple of pics.  Looks like it is an attic wall with framing that penetrates the roof above it for some reason.  Also having the same problem on the back of house.

Because it seams to be part of the attic wall, I can delete it and it goes away but then I am left with no attic wall.

It took just a few minutes to make the roof auto build.

I'm sure it's not exact -- I was not trying for exact, but it will often eliminate oddities like you show. A bit of manual work may be needed.

Start with Edit>Reset To Defaults

Choose All Floors and Roof Directives in Walls.

Set the parameters in the Build Roof dialog. Check Auto Rebuild Roofs. Check your Structure too, as I noticed a few things that may need to change.

Go around and change roof parameters in the walls where needed -- pitch and gable. I do this in a camera view to see the changes.

You will need to lower the ceiling height on the 2nd floor in all the rooms. I used 17-1/8", which should get you close. Raise it back to normal once the roof is good.
