    Yes, I can send you the file plan. It is attached. Thank you so much! In the end, I did not ray trace at all. Instead, I exported the rendered image into photoshop and manipulated the colors. She seemed much happier with that result. I attached that picture as well. Kitchen_Dorado_Designs.zip

    It exported at 37MB, even zipped. Ran it through another compression program and it went down to 33. Any tips to get it smaller?

    From a pro like you, thank you! It is hard not to take harsh critiques personally and so your compliment has lifted my spirits. Those images are great at showing the difference between the different versions and I think will be a great tool in persuading the owner to upgrade. Thank you again!

    This is great information. Every response has literally helped me lift my head a little higher in confidence that what I've been doing is good and worth the struggle of learning it with limited direct support. And now I know that we are already using the best software and should continue to use it while upgrading our hardware to be able to handle X10. Thank you!!

    I saw this in the PBR thread. I'm very excited about it! I planned on requesting the upgrade but the firm is wanting to move to 2020 or AutoKitchen. I am trying to convince them to stay with Chief as it is already an investment that they've made and it can do everything and more than the other programs can do. At the end of the day, CA is a tool and training and learning is the main key to getting renderings exactly, or almost exactly as they want.

    Yes/ Haha they are. I toned some of the shadows down in the ray trace views so they're not so strong. But still too much for her taste. I will turn all shadows off and slowly add them back to control the intensity

    She is difficult. I have to pull and pry information from her. After years of working together, I finally found out that she doesn't like shadows. She thinks since she doesn't know the program she can't tell me "what to do". I'm looking through other posts to find more tips.

    Thank you. I have X9 and would need approval from the owner of the firm to order X10. I have been following that thread and have incorporated some of the techniques discussed. I thought my renderings looked amazing but the designer said they were awful.

    I've been using chief since 2015, completely self-taught with the webinars and youtube videos. But I can't seem to master the renderings. The designer I work with wants the renderings to look amazing, knock your socks off. She doesn't like the shadows, or how the light reacts to the material finishes. She wants the cabinet finish to look exactly like the cabinet finish in real life, she wants metal finishes to look exactly like metal finishes in real life. I exported the file of the most recent drawing and rendering. I've also included screenshots of my rendering presets and final renderings. I honestly have no idea how to make these renderings look exactly the same as they would in real life. In my opinion, that isn't possible. But maybe it is? Please help, I need tips, advice or information to give her about the limitations of the software. Thanks Untitled 3.zip

    Using CA X9 Interiors on a Windows 8PC. I have a curved wall that I'd like to place a window in, how can I do this? Picture of what the window does in a curved wall.

    I'm having trouble with the 3D viewer app and google cardboard. I have a Samsung S7 Edge, using Chief Architect 3d Viewer version 4.5.2.1317 and Google Cardboard D-Scope Pro VR headset. I have Chief Architect Interiors X9 on my computer at work. It runs Windows 7 Professional with i5-6500@ 3.2 GHz and AMD Radeon R7 350x Card. I've tried to use this app twice with two different VR headsets (The google cardboard I mentioned and an Oculus) and neither seems to be working properly. When I put the phone in the glasses, I can clearly see my rendering. But I cannot manipulate the rendering at all. I cannot move closer to it, or turn it, or "look around" it. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, or there is a support application needed to make it work properly. I'm able to see a menu button, which I can open with the glasses on, but I am unable to click VR Entry. Screenshots attached. Does anyone know anything about this or how to fix it? Thanks!

    Hello, does anyone know how to edit the rendering durations that are pre-set in the program? I would like to be able to increase the duration in 1-hour increments but my only choices are 1hr and then it jumps to 6 hours. I have Chief Architect Interiors X9. Thanks!

    That helps, it confirms the majority of what I'm reading on other forums. I have a meeting in a week or two to discuss the new workstation. I'll be presenting my suggestions based on my research. Hopefully it's something my job can afford.

    That's good advice. Thank you Kirk. Since I will be getting a new workstation I have been researching the best one and the best graphic cards. So far I'm finding the NVidia GeForce and AMD Radeon are pretty good. I'm concerned about the price. Since my job is paying the bill, I don't want to go overboard and get something unnecessarily powerful. But at the same time I need something with lasting power. I found that the Dell Precision 3000 comes with the NVidia already and is better for long term rendering capabilities. I have a quote from my IT company that has the Dell Optiplex as meeting the minimum requirements. Online forums on the optiplex have mixed reviews but ultimately they say that this cpu isn't powerful enough for what I'm needing. There's a lot of information out there, and a lot of intelligent people with differing opinions so it's difficult to really know what is best.

    I have similar thoughts. I am surprised that the new update is forcing me to get a whole new workstation essentially. My company is paying for it but pretty soon my personal laptop will not be compatible. Oh well, such is life.
