I can never understand how Chief gets you almost there and then leaves you with multiple steps to get to where a default could get you easily. Deck posts have a default for how far from the end you want them but there is no easy way to get the cantilever off the end of the deck to default. I wish there was an easy way to get the set back of beam from edge default. Right now it is 16" which doesn't work for many situations where you need to pick up a load from above. I have seen some posts but I haven't seen a complete answer on how to easily complete this. Anyone have a work around or easy way to accomplish this? This might just be another weakness in the user but it just seems there should be an easy way to set this.

Thank you for the responses. we have a Design firm that is handling the site plans and the lighting but the local BI wanted to see if I could put the lights in to my plans. I think I knew the answers before I asked the question but it never hurts to pick the brains of people smarter than me on Chief related issues. This community is ridiculous in the hurdles we have to jump through. Last project we had to bring in a piece of vinyl siding so the Zoning Board could see what it looked like???? thanks again and I will just go with what I have.

I have several projects where the town wants LED wall and Pole Mounted lights to light up parking areas and walkways. They need to be 250w 4000k units. I have no idea how to get a symbol to give me that light output. They are square flat boxes with lights shining down from poles and at about 5 degree down on walls. i cannot find any symbols and wondered if anyone had any?

flat 2x12 laying on roof to accept rafters from reverse gable
Snoodle replied to Snoodle's topic in General Q & A
Thank you for all the help. I was able to get the task done using the indyblueprints method. I then manually deleted the stick framing and place trusses instead. I was close but just couldn't get the little details needed. I have to show this on every porch, saddle, shed roof as we are modular and every stick built detail has to be shown. -
The building dept. requires us to put a 2x12 laying on the main pitched roof to accept the rafter tails from a reverse gable or saddle sitting on the main roof. I cannot get this to draw in chief Arch X8 framing. it will not follow the pitch of the main roof. It wants to act like blocking between the main roof rafters or sticks above the roof plane. There must be a way but I don't know how to do it. any help would be appreciated. I can't submit drawing as I can't do it.
