About Me
I am a Home designer, General Building Contractor (lic# 959731) and consultant on sustainable, energy efficient home design.
I have a BSCS (Computer Science) from SFSU, 1986 and had a great, 20 year career as a software engineer. It started with a great 5 year run at NASA Ames Research Center, Mt. View, CA. I then worked in industry for many companies including IBM, Sony, Novellus, VISA and Brocade.
I quit working in hi-tech in 2007 to do an owner/builder dream home project with my wife, Patricia. She also has a college degree (post grad, MSU) and a hi-tech career (@ Google), plus she is an excellent amature designer--landscape, interiors & architectural style.
I got Chief Arch 9.5 in 2005 to design our dream home. I ended up being the soul architect and when we got our building permit in spring 2007, I quit hi-tech to be the full-time GC of our project. It took 2 years of me runing it all myself with help from Patricia as the financial controller and finish materials, fixtures researcher/procurment specialist.
It turned out beautiful and I believe it is one of the most energy efficient houses in the whole SF Bay Area (it is a "Passive House"). I learned so much from the project--in addition to pior construction experience from my youth--that I decided to get my GC license and work as a home designer & energy efficiency consultant.
