Thanks Ryan - Nice and easy - How does that get unchecked without me physically doing that? 

Can someone look at the exterior wall on the second floor high side and see why it is not rebuilding to meeting the trusses leaving a gap in the wall?

Is there a reason the window does not show up after I rebuild the framing as you mentioned? I can see it in the camera view but it does not appear or frame in the windows in framing wall detail. Any thoughts?

Sorry - I missed that option - I thought it was only for the ceiling trusses.

Okay - Do you know of a simple way to rebuild the floor trusses without changing the size individually?

Thank you - Is there any reason why the reset to defaults does not update all floors instead of doing this manually room by room? I thought that was supposed to remedy these issues.

I have updated my defaults to allow for a 14" floor truss between the two floors. All the dimensions show in the default setting DBX accurately but when they are commanded to reset to defaults the first floor adds 2" to the ceiling height but does not create the 14" space for the floor trusses. Let me know if someone sees something I missed.

When I copied and pasted from one framing layer to the other it showed up on the small window side in the elevation view for whatever reason. 

Real close! There were wall divisions for the raised foundation wall for the planter but I may be able to do that and add the windows back hopefully and then add and adjust the headers. The image is what the smaller window and lower window would look like sitting higher on the stem wall below.

I am so close on this and communicating with the engineer for the details. I know you could probably complete it without issue but I am trying to learn the correct way of doing the processes I am questioning so I can provide the drawings myself without hiring it out. I already have a complete layout but the engineers requirements are not easy to implement with the restrictions I find in CA.

Is this a problem, or something that someone looking at the plan should not suggest? Is "framing layer 4" a layer in Display Options?

I am trying to display this wall as one layer. When I select the wall on the 1st floor and open the layer I see one and the other is on the second floor. If I am going to show this as detail for the framer I can't create it accurately without the wall sections being one not 2.

Problem with doing this?

No, problem with doing this as I am working on this right now but wanted to explain that the windows will not be able to be moved up or down due to the limitations of the headers and the closet roof.

Are you saying you are unable to, or do not want to?

I wanted to show you and others the framing that is to be drawn but I cannot get the framing layers to combine. #4 and #2 need to be one framing layer to display as a detail drawing for the framer and for plan review from the city to show the shear support as the engineer drew.

After sending this plan to my engineer he has requested several things that are list in the pdf files.

• I can not combine framing layer 4 and 2 that are basically the same wall but separated.
• With the headers that the engineer is suggesting I will have to raise the ceiling, roof and trusses.
• I also need to have a soffit retained over the entry for lighting but have the outside ends match with no boxed soffit. 
• The are layers in the wall that appear as shapes in the drywall that I cannot seem to find or eliminate. 
• The windows cannot be lowered since the closet ceiling and the closet roof limit the movement in the wall.
•  I have drawn red lines for the framing that the engineer has requested but can't place the framing on the same layer.

I would appreciate any insight on how to accomplish this so I can get it back to him for review and have accurate details for the layout and city plan review.

Once again Eric - Your insight is amazing and the video is sooo extremely helpful to follow along and correct the issues. I have not had any classes yet but follow Dan Baumann and watch some of his lessons. I am self taught like most and appreciate your knowledge to help resolve things as they come up and I can't find the exact resource to view like this.

Hi everyone,

Can you look at Bedroom #3 on the first floor and check the images that I have provided as well? I can't seem to get the wall drywall to match the sloped ceiling and the roof wants to cut into the second floor wall as if there is not framing there. I also see a triangle shape of framing over the exterior corner window that regenerates is I delete it and click on the build framing symbol. I have looked at all I can imagine to be the issues and now I am not sure what to do to remedy them. The areas I have circled are the areas that I can't create the correct framing without it reverting back after I edit them manually. Please let me know what I am missing.

You got most of the issues with what you covered -Thanks!! I have one more wall on the 1st and 2nd floor of the exterior wall where the stairs are. They are currently 24" o.c. and I am trying to change them to 16" o.c. When I select them and click the rebuild framing icon the framing disappears from the plan view. You can see balloon framing in the stairwell but I am not sure if that has anything to do with the reframing issue. Do I need to break the walls at that location?

If you are looking at the plan view it is the 1st and 2nd story wall on the bottom of the plan. All the other walls are 16" O.C. and these walls are 24" O.C. and will not change to 16" O.C. without the framing disappearing. I also, then cannot see the icon to open the wall framing detail at the bottom tool bar if I change those walls to 16" O.C.

I have an issue with my wall framing disappearing from the plan view when I convert from 24" O.C. to 16" as instructed by my engineer. I have all the walls that will convert without disappearing at this point. When I change it, I don't even have the ability to see the framing detail view either. I am not sure why these walls are not updating like the rest but I am missing something. I even made sure the layers were on for Framing, Wall when I changed it to 16".

Let me know what any of you can see.

WOW - much quicker route than what I did with much better results. I did get there but I really wish I would have seen this last night or this morning. At least I know what the correct way is for any other time. Thank you soooo much Steve!!

Thanks - I had to rebuild all the walls manually to the correct height but not change the wall to no room definitions then I built the second floor above that room only and changed the ceiling height as well as a few other tasks. 

I presume that no one else has any suggestions on this issue? I don't have it resolved and would like to know if someone can look at the file and see if I am missing something in my steps to accomplish the reduced ceiling inside of the shop to allow for the mezzanine level for storage. I would appreciate the input.

The bathroom does not have the same issue with the wall connected as does the utility room. Also, now that I look at a back clip cross section the image has wall framing all the way up to the 14' ceiling. I want a mezzanine on top of the apartment that is open and usable for storage, thus the use of the 9.5" ceiling framing that is designated.

I am having trouble with this project when I connect the wall of the utility room to the exterior wall. When I do that the ceiling height changes and the end wall removes the drywall exposing posts and siding. It is not like I am going to display this for the client but I want to understand why it is not keeping the shelf ceiling when that wall is connected. You will see it near the refrigerator in the apartment. I created the ceiling framing, editing the automatic ceiling height to match and tried to give the walls "stop at ceiling above" with all of the lights and wall moving to the 14' ceiling instead of the 9' ceiling I built.

Let me know what I am missing.
