Hi All, I am a beginning interior design student. I purchased CA Premier student edition to start learning the program and play around a bit. I have not yet taken any CAD classes in school so I don't have any other programs to compare too... I do however feel as though CA library options and materials are a bit dated. 80% of what is available looks like it is from the 90's. The materials for the most part are awful. Even with the bonus and manufacturer downloads I struggle to find tile, etc that I would actually use in a design. The textiles, oh man... don't get me started! The light fixtures, furniture is pretty bad too. Am I missing something? Is there somewhere I can go to download more modern items? I have tried 3D warehouse ... that is somewhat helpful. Anywhere else? Is there a program that is better suited for just interior design? Thanks so much! I hope I don't sound like a total brat ;-)

Hi Solver!!! I did watch the videos. For the wood floor direction I am trying to edit in the texture menu- I go to offset and angle and change the angle from 0 degrees to 90 degrees. Nothing happens. For resizing the subway tile -general menu- specifications - change the height & length. Nothing happens. I also wanted to try changing the shapes to hexagon, etc. Did not work. The only thing I have successfully changed is color with the blend with texture option.

Are there limitations to adjust materials with this tool? For example, I am trying to adjust the size of subway tile ( from the core library). Although the changes are made in the preview , the the changes are not being made in my plan. I had the same trouble with changing the direction of hardwood floors ( by changing the angle from 0 to 90) etc. What am I doing wrong? I have only been using X9 for a week... Thanks!!!!

I just bought this gaming Dell laptop last week for $750... it was a steal. Looks like they are sold out but I'm sure you could find it elsewhere. So far it seems to be working well for me.... Although I am very new to X9 and have not used it to Ray Trace .

Thank you. I looked up the reviews on this paticular model and they are horrible... Lots of problems. I am now looking at the Dell Inspition 7559. I noticed most laptops in my price range come with the i7 dual core processor. Is that sufficient? Or do I need a quad core?

Hi all, I am an interior design student. I just send it my application for the Academic X9 software license. I want to purchase a laptop to run the program so that I can take it with me to school, etc. The problem is I am on a major budget. Costco has a deal right now on an HP Envy 17T - Will this work and perform well? Even though it is a deal at only $800, that is a big chunk of change for me. Here are the specs according to the Costco website- Processor & Memory: Intel® Core™ i7-7500U Processor at 2.7GHz 16GB DDR3 (2-DIMM) RAM Drives: 1TB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive SuperMulti DVD Burner Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 10 Communications: Intel® Wireless-AC WLAN + Bluetooth® HP TrueVision HD Webcam + Integrated Digital Microphones Graphics & Video: 17.3" WLED-backlit FHD IPS (1920 x 1080) Display 4GB NVIDIA GeForce 940MX Graphics

I have a background in interior design , but have been out of the industry for 10 years. I am now getting ready to do an extensive remodel of my own home and would like a good program with lots of options for customizing, photorealistic models, etc. I like the idea of using a proffesional program such as the CA interiors... however considering the substantial cost I am wondering how much I would compromise if I settled for the home designer pro? Does the home designer offer the same brand specific cabinets, etc? How good are the 3d models? I have a very old version of Home designer pro , (7.0 from 2006)... It was very easy to use however it was extremely limited and the library options were dated even back in 06. and the 3d modeling was not very realistic. Has the Home designer pro improved since? Thanks!
