Hello all, I'm struggling with wall connections and how they impact wall finish. This happens most often with shower walls when I'm using a "Pony Wall" as a "Rail Wall" where the upper glass portion is glass and the lower portion is more of a standard wall to create the shower curb. The actual "Rail" is then used to create the glass retaining channel. Is this the proper method to create a glass wall on a shower curb? Is there a better way that will include sill material under the glass as one would see in a typical application? How do I manipulate the connection to a standard wall to avoid the undesirable results I'm getting here with portions of the wall framing being exposed? All help appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all I’m a long time AutoCAD user new to Chief and I’m struggling with layer colors. In aCAD I have many layer colors which are incredibly helpful in defining various items on my screen, just like Chief. These aCAD layer colors are then filtered through a custom .ctb file (plot style) which is color dependent and allows me to assign various shades of grey as well as line thickness and transparency for plotting while my line work still appears in color on my screen. Output sheets here often include pictures and or renderings (usually from sketchup) along with aCAD viewports. Plotting those sheets means selecting the color settings required for color pictures and or renderings in my plotter dialog box. With Color plotting settings selected the aCAD line work will still show in greyscale exactly as intended. Here is the problem… In Chief (as far as I can tell) the layer colors displayed on my monitor are the same ones that will print on my sheet when I select the color print settings required to show color pictures and or renderings along with Chief line work on the same sheet. This only leaves me with the option of setting my layer colors in Chief to black and greyscale shades. This is OK except things can to get confusing on screen working with this method. Anyone else have this issue? Is there a work around? Thanks in advance.

Hello Chiefs, Does anyone know how to get a more consistent result in layout than this? I'm adding a 'Rectangular Polyline' in layout then choosing the fill color as shown. I'd like all elements to appear just as the cabinetry and countertops do. Unfortunately under the 'plan material' selection for fixtures there is no 'None Transparent' option. The same is true for the walls on either side of the shower. Thanks in advance!

Hello all, New user here trying to determine exactly how and where to import and set up my existing sheet (AutoCAD Layout) title blocks and sheet legend info. I've got line work, format and company logo all set in AutoCAD but I'm just not finding much info in the resources area about exactly where and how to import it. Does it go into a plan file and get brought into layout? Should it/can it be set up as a cad block and accessed from within layout? How do I set up the title block text fields in layout so that I can change info individually for each project/client? Also, I've got various sized title blocks 81/2" x 11", 11 x 17, 18 x 24" and 24 x 36. My goal is to make the Chief title blocks match my existing AutoCAD Layout title blocks as closely as possible in the event I nee to mix in AutoCAD sheets with Chief sheets. Apologizes if all this info is already posted somewhere and I've missed it - please point it out to me. Thanks in advance!

Hello all! Chief newbie here with an issue I'm hoping for guidance on. I'm getting an odd transition between a first floor brick wall and a second story siding wall. Existing construction shows that the second floor siding has been brought down the exterior wall to cover some of the first floor brick to a point just above the first floor windows. I'm not certain how to achieve this in Chief. These are the results I'm getting. As you can see the band of vertical siding is not ideal and I don't know where that's coming from or how to fix it. Here is what the first floor shows when I select the surface in 3D view. Here is a section through the window. I've made the 2nd floor siding 1" thick to make it stand out more.
