I’m a design-build contractor in the Indianapolis area looking for an experienced Chief Architect user for ongoing drafting and plan production.
I currently do the Chief work myself and have experience with wall assemblies, roofs, framing plans, elevations, details, 3D modeling, and layouts. Drafting has become a bottleneck, and I’m looking for someone who can take over the heavy lifting without constant step-by-step direction.
For most projects, I can provide:
Field measurements and as-built information
LiDAR-generated as-built DWG files
Surveys, photos, sketches, and existing plans
Detailed project direction and construction requirements
Previous Chief files and plan sets showing how I’ve approached things—the good and the bad
I’ll remain involved in design and construction decisions, but need someone who can turn that information into clean, coordinated .plan and .layout files.
Our work includes remodels, additions, custom homes, basement finishes, and detached structures. Experience with existing-condition modeling, grade and elevation extrapolation, roofs, foundations, framing plans, sections, elevations, layouts, and permit/construction sets is important. Accurate, buildable models and organized files matter far more to me than rendering.
We would establish a consistent Winget Homes format based on my previous work, while improving the templates, annotation, organization, and presentation. I know Chief well enough to communicate clearly and review the work, but the right person should be able to run circles around me in production.
This would begin with a paid trial project and could become steady ongoing work. Fast turnaround is helpful; reliable and predictable turnaround is more important. US time-zone required; absolutely no offshore resourcing.
