  1. I have only been using Chief Architect for a few years and overall it is a major timesaver when I'm designing homes or room additions etc. One of my biggest struggles with it is the CAD options and dimensioning functions. Along with what appears to be a user interface issue with out being able to lock things in place. Setting geometry lock points or restraints such as concentric with something that will not move because it's locked somewhere. It appears there are ways to do this but like other users have mentioned chief have not intentionally made this a simple function like so many other functions in this program are making quick work of complex geometry making it a valuable tool for designer like myself. I will continue to struggle with this issue and do what it takes to get the job done but I do not understand why you would not want this to be a simple function and set of such a complex one. Being needed so much of the time especially in remodeling where existing dimensions and angles cannot be practically changed they are existing fixed locations that we have to deal with as we design. Other CAD Systems that I use have made it so simple to lock a starting point into position to work off of. And this reference point can be moved as needed very simply or added to but nevertheless it does not move. I have also found that the dimensioning functions appeared to be very finicky and not quickly adaptable to different scenarios. I find myself constantly having to figure out how to get a dimension I'd like instead of simply choosing a piece of geometry and a second piece of geometry with a dimension popping up like other software I've used. It will not choose the geometry that is clearly on the monitor.
