I have cad plans for a 5600 SF new build home and need someone to build it in Chief Architect. Should include interior floor materials (mostly white oak) and drywall but no cabinetry or furniture or decorative lighting. If you are interested and available (need this complete by Friday 10/18/24), send me a message. Ideally include work examples of something similar and estimate of how long it will take you.

Interesting. Looks like you got the first floor to import but that file had both first and second floor in it. Can you share what you did? I have 6 more of these.

I am having trouble importing cad files (.dwg). I go through the import drawing assistant which seems straight forward and has not given me a problem in the past but for some reason when I do it with this latest project, nothing shows up after the import is complete. what am I missing? I uploaded the chief file and the cad file. 418 15th street.plan A5 1ST _ 2ND FLOOR PLANS_1FIRST FLOOR PLAN.dwg

How can I get the text in my symbols to match the text size in the drawing? in the drawing I have 1/4" text style. When I change the selected defaults to 1/4" text style it does not change the size of the text. I need to print today and this is not legible in my prints. Help.

UPDATE TO THIS QUESTION: apparently my futzing with it solved the problem for a few of the layer sets but not the one I need it in. Now my flooring pattern shows up in my ceiling and electical layer sets but not the finish layer set. and attempts to fix it in tools/ display settings are not fixing it. grrrr... any advice?

How can I get the wood plank floor material pattern to be visible in my finish plan? The material is correct in 3d view and in the room specification dialog box but I want it to show up on the floor plan view.

Thank you, they are ceiling planes which explains that problem. I switched to roof planes and that worked however I cannot change the finish of the wall above the the intermediary ceiling. its coming in as wood? any thoughts on that??
-
I did that and it only worked for one of the walls but now I cannot change the material on it. Any other suggestions or ideas why this might be happening?

how can I make the base different colors on different walls within the same room? I want white base on white walls and dark base on dark walls.

How can I extend the brick wall to the ceiling in the picture below? It wants to stop at the first ceiling but I need to to go to the double height space.

Any tips for creating a glass gradient? I want to apply a film to the conference room glass like the picture below but having trouble with creating a material that fades to transparent.

Ceiling Planes layer is ON. The other ceiling plane in the view shows up its only 1 plane I am having trouble with. I have attached the file. and added a signature. and deleted the question out of the other forum. Thank you for your help so far! Prairie Hill Holdings_Existing Plan.plan

Hi. I am purchasing a new computer and want to confirm that what I am looking at will be good for using chief architect software. I am interior designer with mostly smaller projects with some aspect of rendering. I am currently using: MacBook air 13" Mac OS Monterey Graphics Intel UHD Graphics 617 1536 MB Memory 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3 Processor 1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and I find that it works for most small projects but rendering is VERY slow and if I have a larger project, it's too frustratingly slow. I would like to stick with a mac. I understand that ray tracing capability is not available with a mac but need to stick with mac for other reasons. Here is what I am comparing: option A Mac book Air 15" M2 chip, 8 GB unified memory, 512 GB SSD. OR option B Mac book Pro 14" M2 pro chip, 16 GB unified memory 512 GB SSD screen size not a huge deal for me because I have another monitor I use. I have to transport laptop between office and home often so smaller is not a deal breaker. There is a $500 difference between the two options above and obviously the Pro is going to be better than the Air but wondering if it is really necessary? Would option A last me for 5+ years or will it be obsolete soon or not keep up with Chief Architect standards? Thank you for reading!

oh duh. that worked. Thank you!

I am trying to make an upper cabinet that sits on the counter. It should be inset cabinet doors but no bottom. When I click "no bottom" it doesn't take out the bottom rail. How do I get this show up correctly?

Is there a way to individually select which drawer styles for each cabinet? I have a stack of 3 or 4 drawers in a cabinet base and I want flat panel on the top drawer but framed panels on the bottom drawers. In the base cabinet specification box there is only 1 drop down choice for main style. I have tried "faking it" and changing the drawers to doors in the items properties box but then the hardware wont show up. any tricks?
