If it's a large dog he could could just bark a lot till someone let him out, or if it's an intelligent dog like Lassie you could teach him to open door handles.

I presume you mean a lamp consisting of many small lamps, this is difficult for Chief to do as the  large number of light sources tend to overwhelm Chiefs rendering capability. It is almost certainly better to give your LEDs a highly emmisive material, and then add a light source.  This idea has been tackled before, some ideas can be found on the old Chief forum, try searching under "rope lighting"
