Ok, I'm not sure how to get the model file sizes down to 14 MB I'd love to know how to do that if anyone wants to let me know. Also, I did exactly this and couldn't find any settings that made the difference: Here are dropbox links to them: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/q2jcdp5ucfaigkk8d0tmz/AFrhWaHoWsDYQfdiBFN_Lok?rlkey=7s3eek3sfy9w4nv3if3zwkaqx&dl=0

Alright, I have another odd one here. I have 2 versions of this model that are behaving completely different. One version is not showing any floor edge covering (which is what I want) and the other is showing a floor edge covering (it's the black colored block) I've been told by folks on here to remove the wall edge layer because in the past I've had issues with the finish layer extending down and covering the floor edge. However in this case, it appears to be the wall core that is covering the floor edge. I've checked all of the settings for the railing wall type, the floor properties for the "open to below" room, and the balcony room and I'm not finding what settings are different here. One version is not showing any floor edge covering and the other is (it's the black colored block) I've been told by folks on here to remove the wall edge layer I can send links to the files to download if that's necessary. Let me know.

I see that you can unlock the layer "roof trim" and modify the shadow boards (assuming that's what you meant) but I'm not able to modify the fascia or barge rafters. Are others able to?

I figured it out. Does Chief have a feature request with upvoting functionality? If not, they need to start with that!

Yes, I am on that wagon for sure. How do we upvote that feature?

Hello all. Am I missing something or is it not possible to turn off the roof fascia on a selected edge? I do a lot of manual roofs and the fascias at the valleys show through, into the attic or vaulted ceiling often. I love how you can turn off gutters, shadowboards...etc on a selected edge, but I'm not seeing this anywhere for fascia.

Creating an As-Built of a Multi-Stepped Foundation on a Hill

Hi everyone, thank you for the suggestions. Cougars32 posted this comment based upon my direction and it's been a big help. Thank you for the links and suggestions. It looks like we've managed to figure this out. Is anyone familiar with "level's" in Revit? In my mind, it's more intuitive. Oh, another thing that we did was to get all of our numbers accurate first, for all of the levels and plate heights, it made setting up the defaults super easy and just worked like magic! Thank you for the encouragement! Jake -
Fantastic! Thank you!!!

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the "exterior wall surface", referring to the part of a wall that covers the edge of the floor that it sits on?

When will Chief incorporate AI for rendering? It’s time

You already can. No plugin needed. These are Chief Image exports -
Hello Chief pros. Quick question, I'm using the rail function "Post to Beam" which is awesome, but I can't find the setting (if it exists) to NOT have the newels at the stair go to the beam. Is there a setting somewhere that I'm missing? Image attached.

About 6 months ago, I discovered drawings sheet setup (File>Print>Drawing Sheet Setup) which is extremely helpful to see how line weights and line type scale will appear. However, I thought that the Drawing Sheet Setup was linked and saved to the view. In fact, it says that it is in the Help files. However, it appears that it's global across all views in the file. Perhaps I'm missing something. Can anyone let me know if there is a setting somewhere that allows to be tied and saved to the view? I did find a work around. If I have the layout file open and then I open the view from the sheet layout, then chief does change the scale in the drawing sheet setup to the scale that is set in the layout. However, it would be nice, if we didn't have to open the view from the sheet in order for the line weights and line type scales to look correct regardless. here's a screencapture video if this is confusing. https://capture.dropbox.com/fkCEVWdrWvvBZGN4

I'll try that

cool thanks, I know about reference display, but that may be reactive, whereas, making sure that things are on the right floor, will help keep things clean. thanks for your help. Developing a mechanical plan using the actual model items... it's working out pretty nicely!

Does anyone know if it's possible to show an object on a different floor without moving the object? Case in point: I'm modelling some ductwork, including the fittings and the ducts. The fittings are symbols and the ducts are 3d polylines and extruded primitives. some of the parts are not showing up on one floor, but they do show up on another (in plan view) Kind of like how a roof, in plan view will on ly show up on one floor. It's it possible to designate which floor these items show up on? I know roofs have a "show on floor above" and "show on floor below" icons, but I don't see an icon to do this for symbols, primitives or 3d molding polylines. I've tried cutting and pasting them on a different floor using Hold Position, but it also moves them up. So, the only way (questionable as to whetehr it's worth it in this case) is to cut and paste them, then move them down to their actual position. I think this must be the only way but wanted to throw it out there as well.
