  1. I had a deck built under this roof. I copied one of the deck boards and moved it to where it is seen in the attached pics. When I let go, my plan.file did not. It will not let me delete this board that is now floating in the air in my way! The first thing I did was try to grab it to delete. Well, apparently it is still tied to deck that I had build with railing under that roof (covered porch) so it grabs the whole deck not the individual deck board. Then I decided to use the undo command and it undid things I did before this happened so the undo command ignored the step I took to copy this deck board from the actual deck. Then I decided to delete the whole deck in hopes that that board would disappear. Nope, no deck now but I still get to keep the floating board! In plan view, this board does not appear but in section view or 3d view its there. I have rebuilt the foundation (I have noticed this simple step fixes lots of weird things CA does) I have saved andclosed this plan and reopened it to see if it is gone but nothing changes. Attached are two pics. of the floating board in two of my attempts to make it go away. Also is the plan.file (DENTON) that if you want to take a stab at it, fell free. I could use the help if anyone would kindly fix this for me so I can continue on with my project. I'm spending way to much time here on this issue...

Look at the profile Keven is showing. It includes the flat and the molding. You could also draw them separately, align them, then add to the library as a Stacked Molding.

What Kevin is suggesting is exactly what I show above.

And you only need to draw moldings if a match is not in the library.

    Okay thanks

You'll notice in my initial post that I mentioned you need to draw the profile of both the crown and the flat stock.

No need to make molding polylines and try to get them aligned with your windows. With this method you can move or resize the windows and have the lintel adjust automatically.

Yes I have used this method before. Accept I do not understand what you mean by I need to draw both the crown and flat stock profiles. with polylines.  When I go into the lintel dialog box I can only choose one profile for my lintel. So when I chose the crown I wanted It had no flat stock below when playing around with the lintel. That said,  I believe you are saying I am supposed to manually draw both profiles and so using the molding polyline tool and place them on the window as needed. I will look into this. I always get frustrated dealing with molding polylines. i need to practice more with it... Thanks for you advice!

Then select this profile in the "Lintel" tab in the window dialog box.

Check the "Wrap" box for i t to return and fiddle with the "Extend" setting to make it look right.

This way you can easily reuse it at other windows without manually creating it from molding polylines.

Ok I did this but unfortunately it does not work. I need my lintel on the window to be a flat profile 5.5 inches tall like the picture and Then around the top of that lintel, I want to ADD the crown profile of my choosing. Adding the crown as my profile for my lintel replaces my 5.5 inch flat lintel, I don't want that... So I need to figure out how to make an actual symbol I guess with the crown I want I want  so I can put on whatever I want anywhere. OR if I can just figure out how to flip the profile crown I have drawn to stand upright. I keep opening it in its dialog box and there is nothing to flip it.

Play with the checkbox in the dialog for molding that selects whether it extrudes "inside" or "outside" the polyline.

Also experiment with adding more moldings to the polyline.  You can stack up as many moldings you want, and position them relative to the polyline, to get the effect you want.

    copy that! :)

Okay sounds like a plan Thanks.

You should check out Rene's YouTube videos on TwinMotion.

Do yourself a favour and download TwinMotion, it's free.

I mean, actually free, not "internet free", really free.

Did I mention that it's also free?

In Chief, from a 3D overview camera, hit file, export to .dae (collada)

    Open TwinMotion and import model.

Your model will instantly look better.

It is a lot easier to create and export images, videos, walkthroughs, and online sharing with clients from TwinMotion.

I use Chief for everything, as in cabinets and furniture.

Then in TwinMotion, I add the grass, plants, trees and shrubs along with people and vehicles.

I have a user library for these items in TwinMotion so it's a breeze.

Very little tinkering with materials and lighting.

For lighting I simply add a TwinMotion "skydome", it's one click and I get the overall light that I need for a given shot.

No messing with lights and sunlight, although you can if you want.

Really easy and enjoyable workflow in TwinMotion once you get past the somewhat peculiar interface, from a Chief point of view.

If you watch Rene's videos you'll see that even updating your model from Changes in Chief is really no big deal.  At first I used to curse Chief for not having a direct link to TwinMotion, but it really isn't all that neccessary.

Yes I have downloaded TwinMotion. I have been in the process of learning how to take my chief plans into it. I will check out Rene's YouTube Thanks!

but my workflow in Twinmotion is so fast now

this took 2 hours from a chief house
