  1. Hello, I am working on my house plans and just noticed that my square footage of my house is currently on the setting "Main Layer" in my default settings. Is this accurate industry wide on how square footage is calculated? Thank you, Heidi
  2. @Chopsaw this is a screenshot just in the main floorplan view. Not in layout. When I zoom in almost all the way the text gets clear and when I print it to PDF the text is clear. That’s why I can’t figure out why it’s pixelated when I’m zoomed out.
  3. Hi Everyone, I have been working on sending things to layout and I have noticed my text has gotten really pixelated when I am looking at my floorplan now. I will attach a photo. It has never been pixelated before. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks! Heidi
  4. Thanks everyone, I have been watching layout videos and have learned about the 0 page master, I have rotated my plan 90 degrees counterclockwise and my page titles and dimensions rotate with it, however, they stack on top of each other I tried @TeaTime's idea but it rotated them perpendicular to the room labels, now i'm just trying to not have them show up directly on top of each other. Thank you!
  5. Also, How did they get all their information on the bottom of this layout as mine is on the right hand side? I think it looks much better on the bottom. Any Idea? @misterwiley
  6. @misterwiley Ok I was able to do that but now all my text and dimensions are messed up?
  7. Hello, I am working on sending my floorplan to layout and the town i'm in requires a minimum 1/4" + 1'0" but when I use those specifications it doesnt fit properly on my layout.. and i'm using 24x36 paper which I believe is the standard size everyone does layouts on. Any thoughts or ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Heidi Chief Architect X10
  8. Thank you so much everyone for all of the knowledge and help. I think I will end up rebuilding each one at a time once I check the proper settings in "Build Roof". Thank you, I could've not figured this out alone. I appreciate all of your input!
  9. Thanks @GeneDavis I am new to this program so any help is greatly appreciated. I will do what you suggested and repost. I am wondering with the second photo you uploaded it shows a basement somehow? My construction will be a cement slab with 2x4 framing. I added the second story to create a flat roof over the 1 car garage so there should be no basement. Not sure if that matters?
  10. Thanks @GeneDavis - I don’t know why when I lower my manual roof plane to match where chief would place the auto roof plane it slants the sides of the drywall in the rooms. Any ideas why that may be happening?
  11. Hi @Chrisb222, thank you, I couldn't find anywhere where anyone had this same issue. This is a picture of my roof structure, I don't see somewhere to change the thickness of the roof deck. What should the thickness of the roof deck be?
  12. Hi @solver, Thanks for your response . I will paste the link to my file here - it is the whole plan so its on google drive. I have 10' ceilings and a 4/12 pitch for the roof. I can't see what the difference would be with my manual roof planes vs. auto generated ones. I am only focusing on the roof above the 1 car garage side of the house for now while i am trying to figure out how to get it to work. Yes the trusses look perfect when I auto build the roof. If I lower my roof planes to match the specs from the auto roof the drywall on the ceiling inside will start to slant downward on the edges of the rooms. I use manual roof planes because with the "tower" over the entrance the program doesn't auto build roofs that will work for me at all it seems to glitch somehow. Any help would be so appreciated. 13. Hello, I am working on truss building currently and have already manually built my roof planes. However, upon messing around with the program I have figured out that my trusses only build correctly if I auto build the roof and check the box "Trusses (no birdsmouth) under the pitch. I need my trusses to look like picture #1 but when I build my trusses for my manually built roof they look like picture #2. Does anyone know how to build the trusses to look like #1 with manual roof planes?
  14. Hello! I am trying to build trusses to have a 7.5" overhang with a 4/12 pitch. I am struggling getting them to build correctly. The way I want them to look is picture #3. However, I have to lower my roof plane so much to get the truss to build the way that I want that my exterior wall lowers in height. When I get the roof plane at the correct height then the roof trusses build incorrectly (Picture #2) . Lastly, the framing at the intersections of the walls is showing slanted #1 . The height of my ceiling is 10 feet. Please help I can't understand why this isn't working. Thank you!
  15. Thanks everyone for your help that worked! Appreciate it!
  16. Hello! I am using x10. I am trying to get each of my floors to show up separately in 3D. I.E. when i'm on floor 1 it will show all my walls and no roof, when I go to floor 2 it will then show the roof in addition to the walls. I can't find where I can change how this is displayed in 3D. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you! Heidi
  17. Thank you everyone! It seemed to work once I saved, went out and went back in as I had previously deleted the unused CAD blocks. Thank you for your help!
  18. @DBCooper thank you, this sounds like exactly what I need to do, however I can’t find where it placed the symbol. Do you know where I can find all used symbols on my plan? Thank you!
  19. Hello! I tried to "convert to symbol" an electrical outlet so i could place it in my kitchen island. However it didn't work. BUT now my program is going alarmingly slow and the size of the file is 460mb instead of what it used to be which is about 80mb. Any ideas? I have already tried to purge unused CAD blocks. Just feel like I'm missing something here. Thank you for any help! Heidi Chief architect x10
  20. @Chopsaw THANK YOU! I will try this fix now.
  21. Hello, I cannot figure out what this issue is, every time I try to do a measurement or extend a wall this spiderweb looking thing of lines comes up and I cannot figure out what it is. If anyone has any thoughts on how to get rid of it that would be greatly appreciated!
  22. Thank you! The dimensions on some of my walls were a little bit off which was making my roof not line up. Auto roofs doesn't always build the roof exactly how i would like it. Thanks again!
  23. Hello, I am using Chief architect premier x10 and am having issues getting my roof planes to line up. I need the valley on the left side of the hip to run off the roof but then on the right side there is about a 4 inch gap in my roof. I'm not sure what to do to fix this. Second question: I had to adjust this roof plane to line up with the rest of my roof but now the edge of the plane is not directly over where the two walls connect. Is it necessary for the edge of the plane to be directly over where the walls connect? Any other roof suggestions are welcome on how to make this work. Thank you, Heidi
  24. @John_B thank you so much that answers my question! Appreciate your help and quick response.
