  1. Sorry - ended up being out. I've attached an older version so the .plan file isn't as large. What you'll notice if you go into 3-d mode is that the wall on the left side of the front already has the pony wall missing (was absorbed into the main wall - not sure when it happened) while the right side is still there. It (right side - 16" long section) disappears (get's absorbed) when I clicked on the 1st floor wall section and open the structural options and select "balloon through ceiling above". I was selecting this so that the framing goes straight up rather than stopping as I created the wall using 2 floors (in order to hang a mezzanine at the back. The image below just shows the wall section selected and then what it looks like after I select the ballooning feature. This has happened before and not sure why. This just happens to be on instance when I know it occurs. 0 - Garage Wall Issue.plan
  2. The foundation is thicker at that point to hold the stone which juts out. I created it the same way as the wall but it seems to hold steady. I've only had it "auto join" once but since then it's stayed correct. So the main foundation is 8" thick whereas that section (where the pony wall goes) is 11.5" thick. Leaves a 1" overhang for the stone once it's there. I used a pony wall to create that section of 16" wall and line the layers up so they match up on the OSB.
  3. Hello, I have a 16" "wrap around" section of wall from the front of my building to the sides for some stone veneer and I've joined the wall to the straight section as shown in the first photo below. The issue is that the 16" long section keeps "merging" into the longer section of wall and I lose my veneer on the side wall. And it looks like image 2. It's incredibly frustrating. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?
  4. yes i was on floor 1 and just double checked. I made all three walls touching it have that checked. I'm wondering if it's because the two side walls extend the full length of the mezzanine AND the open space. Not sure.
  5. Interesting, I just did that with all three walls that the floor touches and it still generates the 4 plates inbetween rather than extending it like in your example
  6. Thanks again! I'll definitely try that. Just finishing up with getting my first / second wall heights all set / platform and will play with that setting as well.
  7. Awesome thanks! Seems to do the trick. Not quickly but enough that I can work with it for what I'm doing. Once I have it all set where I want it I can generate the framing and then manually delete the extra framing and extend the framing from the bottom to the top and turn off automatic framing / lock the wall framing at that point to generate all my construction drawings. If anyone has a quicker way to do it please let me know, otherwise this will work! Thanks so much Robert!
  8. Hello, I haven't done many designs in Chief Architect (X12) but I'm picking it back up and I'm not sure if what I'm trying to do is possible. I've searched online and tried to find some answers in forum searches but still can't seem to find what I'm looking for. What I'm trying to do is to create a Garage Mezzanine for storage which will attach to existing wall framing on the back 39' wall and extend out to a flush mounted I-beam supported by posts. The two sides will end up with a 2x16 along the existing wall framing as well but won't be considered a ledger. I've included 4 screenshots. The first shows the I beam with wood inserts bolted to it with hangers and 2x16's, the second shows a ledger being attached to existing wall framing which is basically what I'd like to include on the 3 walls that it attaches to, the third shows the 2nd floor detail in which I've circled the framing that Chief will do and the final shows the rough floorplan of the 2nd floor which is unfinished storage (stairs not yet done) and the "open below" area. The reason I have a second floor was in order to create the mezzanine floor location, however, I'm wondering if that's where I'm running into my issue. Is there anyway to build a mezzanine which attaches to the existing wall using ledger boards on the inside framing? I've found the video for foundations and inserting a ledger board on that but can't see how to apply that to my case. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Michael
