Thanks Eric, I just selected the gable ends and deleted the un-needed gables at 2 and 5 and seems to be working.

Thanks, I was working on this too late and had been too long since I created a new plan and forgot to build the walls... LOL So that took care of 1 & 3. Although, I am not sure now what to change to get the Gable end on the patios to not show up since these invisible walls are there just to define the patio and porch and the carry the roof out. Not sure, but there may be a better way to do this. I also assume that the walls for the attic gable end walls have the line since they may not be the same thickness as adjacent walls and will look at the wall makeup to see if I can get them to match. Only a couple issue left on this roof/gable end areas. 6) This is another issue that I didn't notice before. FreyHouse_3b.zip

I am trying to help a friend with a plan for a house he wants and I am having trouble trying to figure out a couple of issues on the roof build. I have played with this quite a bit to get the roof to build like I think it should look and can't get the last few issue worked out. Please make any suggestions that may help. Gable End on the Garage upper wall missing. Add gable end near porch that shouldn't be there on the right side. Gable end on entry upper wall missing. Added small Gable end on the opposite side of the master bedroom that shouldn't be there. Patio back corner is no quite right on gable end. Thanks for any suggestions you may have. I thnk I got it figured out. I also upgraded this plan to X15 to take advantage of the auto roof working better for the in plane roof at the rear transition. Although it jacked up the entry roof and I had to raise it up to get the gable end return and the ridge for the entry to work correctly, but overall I think this works. The garage got changed to 4:12 and shifted toward the front of the house to line up with the back roof plane. Not ideal either, but definitely workable. Let me know your thoughts/critiques. (I'm a mechanical engineer, not an architect, LOL)

Thanks for the ideas. I might have to upgrade to X15. There must be a difference in the algorithms in X14 & X15. I tried closing and re-opening as I've noticed anomalies after the program has been open for many days. But, it still looked the same when opening in X14. I hate to upgrade at this point since I'm in the middle of building my own house and occasionally making plan updates and drawing updates. Last time I updated from X13 to X14, it took me a week to straighten out my layout again. Not an easy thing to do as layers were all jacked up on the objects that were shown.

I'm trying to help a friend with a design and I'm having trouble trying to work out a few of the details for the roof to line up as I'd expect. I have tried several time to slightly adjust the walls thinking that moving it just a bit will align and bring the automatic roof into alignment at the ridge and the back patio. It seems that Chief doesn't like to make minor adjustments at times when moving less than an inch and not sure how to achieve the alignment in two areas 1& 2. I have tried to move the under the 4:12 pitch roof to get the alignment and moved in 1/8" increments and this is where nothing seems to happen and then when I adjust it 2" or 3" it goes above or below the transition and the roof planes at #1 are either higher or lower than each other. I have tried the same thing here by moving the Temp Wall on the porch an inch or so and with no success. Any ideas here? I am not sure what to do here for the transition. I could just make a plane to the front and back with 3 points for a triangular section to the front and back and manually draw these in at the end. You need to select the side walls on the garage and porch and go to the specification dialog (Ctrl+E) and select the "Roof" and change the pitch to 4

I was just struggling again with the transition to X14 and the above instruction is exactly what took care of the issue with not recognizing the 3DConnexion device. After updating the ChiefArchitect.xml file element with X14 instead of 13, it recognized the controller again. Is addition to the setting to allow it to work in X14, I have been having a difficult time trying to get into the Advanced Settings for the 3D Mouse Controller. Apparently, the 3D Connexion App for windows now needs to be run as Administrator to get into the proper settings and be able to see or make changes to them. Without running as Admin, the controller will come up showing Internet Explorer even though you just came from Chief and selected the app. So, see below for the settings I have to make it work. They are the same settings that someone has talked about previously from nearly 6 years ago See (3D Connexion Mouse Vs X8 ). The settings below make it so it works like any other major mechanical CAD program out there for mechanical design. (I've been using the 5 major platforms for 20+ years and never experienced the backwardness of how Chief does things compared to the other programs. Of course this is not mechanical CAD design software, but the convoluted layers and associated font styles and grouping nested configurations is much more complicated than even NX CAD is) Start the 3DConnexion App as Admin Select the Start menu Start to Type "3DConn..." hover over the application name if needed to see the secondary menu Select "Run as Administrator" If you have the CAD Mouse and 3D Controller, you may have to select the SpaceMouse to see the settings. (If you don't see "Chief Architect" in the Application name, then you didn't start as Admin and you should try it again. (Sometimes it seems to be hit or miss), or you will need to reinstall/modify the program as a last resort) Select "Advanced Settings" and compare them to the recommended settings to function "normally." Select "Reverse" for every feature on the right hand side. De-Select the "Dominant" selection. You may also want to export the settings for use later. Return to the 1st screen and select "More" even though it looks greyed out. Select Export and give the file a name in the good location. (I put mine into my Chief Architect Design folder to be able to find it again. Also Attached here if you want to import them) The video attachment is just a quick look at the rotation of the Orthographic view to show how quick it can rotate. Did you ever find anyone for NV? I'm in Douglas County and am highly leaning to the ICF's since cost is close to framing and fewer trades involved. Most of the build I will do and want to save costs within reason.
