Thanks Eric. It works when you place the symbol in a plan view. I was trying to place it in the elevation view and it did not work. Most of the symbols like rain water pipe and picture frames work both in plan and in elevation. For now, I can manage by placing in the plan but would be interested to know why it is not working in the elevation.

Thanks Ryan. I have used "All Layer on" layer set

I have insert a millwork Baluster X from the core library once but cannot insert it again. I have all the layers turned on. I can copy and past the symbol from another drawing but if I then add the same symbol to the library and insert it again, it does not show. Would anyone now the reason behind it. The drawings and a video attached. Millwork not showing.mp4 Millworks not showing.plan

Ok. Got it. Can change manually. I thought that it was an automatic process. Thanks both.

The structure between 2 floor is a floor and should use construction specified in the floor structure. The space between the room below and the roof above is a ceiling and should use the construction specified in ceiling structure. The ceiling joist would have smaller joists sizes.

I have built 2nd floor and a roof with "Ignore upper floor". I have then built the attic walls and designated the roof void as attic space In the section view, the attic area should not have floor but a ceiling platform. Any easy solution to this please? Floor in attic.plan

Walls extending through roof on ignore top floor
ChiefJeet replied to ChiefJeet's topic in General Q & A
We can delete them, paint over them or make them invisible. What I am trying to establish is the cause of it so that we don't have to keep deleting the walls. I think I have worked it out and have shown it in the video below. I think it is the floor thickness which is puncturing the roof and causes the walls to shoot up. I would welcome any further suggestions Walls extending through roof 1.mp4 Walls shooting through roof 1.plan -
Walls extending through roof on ignore top floor

When I add third floor and build roof with "ignore top floor" check, these walls should not generate above the 2nd floor ceiling height. That is the issue. -
Walls extending through roof on ignore top floor
ChiefJeet replied to ChiefJeet's topic in General Q & A
Thanks David. These are wanted attic walls that should not shoot out above roof. -
I am building a third floor and roof with "ignore top floor". It works fine on a new plan but on this one, the walls keeps extending out above the roof. This issue has been discussed before but don't know how it was resolved. Can someone with more knowledge help me on this. File attached. NewhamptonRdE268 Backup.plan

Thanks for that Eric. I dimension my walls to structural thickness and thats why I am using 1mm finish, pinching the same amount from the structural thickness. I think there is a 1mm bug in the software as the walls often shifts that amount for some reason. I have changes the render thickness to 15mm and the finish extends to the bottom. I think the reason why the same wall type shows a different appearance is that, in some places slab lines up with the outside of the render finish and it show through. On other locations, it lines up with the inside of the render finish and the finish extends down. My location is UK and I will amend my signature.
-
There are no foundations wall and we don't yet build them. The floor slab does the job for us as it gives distinctive grey area to define an area below DPC. I am just trying to figure out why the finish below the windows extends to the ground level.
-
I have two walls which are the same wall type but on the finish extends all the way to the ground level and on the other it does not. The wall finish is intended to finish at the first floor level. I have checked most of the properties but cannot identify the issue. Help on this issue will greatly be appreciated. File attached. Thanks in advance Wall finishes WardRd8.plan

Roof resulting in different wall plate heights

Roof resulting in different wall plate heights
ChiefJeet replied to ChiefJeet's topic in General Q & A
Still evolving. In 2D cad applications, I only show structural walls without plaster and this was one way of achieving that by pinching 1mm off the wall thickness. This learning process is slowing my productivity. Once I have picked up the speed and have cleared my workload then I can experiment with the advanced features. -
Roof resulting in different wall plate heights
ChiefJeet replied to ChiefJeet's topic in General Q & A
Well that explains it,, the roof pivoting on the out face of the main layer. In UK, we rarely have masonry cavity wall construction and the rafter is pivoted on the outer edge of the wall plate. The wish list would be to alter the wall plate position and the pivoting point. One could also experiment with shifting the insulation and brick clad out of the main layer. Jeet -
Roof resulting in different wall plate heights
ChiefJeet replied to ChiefJeet's topic in General Q & A
Thanks Steve for taking the trouble to do two video. This is not correct as the wall plate is normally on the inner skin This is a same clip with a correct position of wall plate. I think I will put this to CA to see if it is a bug or there is a setting somewhere to correct it. Thanks again -

This do not work either. I have followed the procedure and the wall plate height is still higher Has anyone tried by using the attached plan? -
Roof resulting in different wall plate heights
ChiefJeet replied to ChiefJeet's topic in General Q & A
None of theses setting are checked -
The double storey roof has a pitch of 35 degree and the single storey has a pitch of 12.5 degree. If I set the default roof pitch to 35 degree and set the roof pitch within wall spec to 12.5 degree, auto roof will draw the roof with 12.5 degree pitch at a lower wall plate height which results in sloping ceiling as shown in the clip. If I set the default roof pitch to 12.5 degree and set the roof pitch within wall spec of the upper roof to 35 degree, then the lower roof will be drawn correctly but the upper roof will have a higher wall plate height. Would anyone know if there is another setting I should be changing? I am aware that I can change the roof heights manually but I am trying to avoid having to do that in order to benefit from auto roofs. File attached Thanks in advance Roof lower wall plate.plan

.Yes it does work. I changed the backclip to 0, then 1000mm and then 2000mm. It appeared after 2m and found that it was the 9" circled wall causing it. I then changed its specification "uncheck sill plate" and it disappeared. Thank you Rob.

Thank you David but I was not complaining but looking for solutions if there are any. Some help from more experienced users has resolved some of the issues and there is less painting over for me to do.

This works. Thanks This does not work on the interior wall. . It appears as if the wall is providing a support to the floor and that little gap is a wall plate. I have deleted and built the wall again but the gap remains. Maybe it is associated with floor spec but I cannot seems to locate it. Thank you Rob. Your input has resolved some of the issues.
