  1. ahh perfect, got my colour back lol. Now for the other parts I am assuming that exporting as image means that when you change something in the plan, that it doesn't update on the layout is that right? If I was to just use the layout, how do you adjust the size of the end result of the plan on the layout page?
  2. So it does come out a little better, still more crisp, but it is still not in colour, just black and white. See attached Laurie Hancox layout.pdf
  3. So I don't need to export these plans to scale, so I uncheck the scale option. I choose send current screen to layout and the size is good depending on how zoomed in I am, but when choose the elevation to send to the layout, I go to the layout page and look at it it is not sharp, it is like it is reduced resolution. Is it a better option to choose 'send as image' ? Can you resize the image on the layout page to fit? and for some reason it is all in black and white see attached screenshot bret
  4. HI all. I am a part time user of Chief. I am a GC and use it only when I need to to be honest, and I have a job that is a basic kitchen and 2 bathrooms that I want to send to a layout so I can print it up on large sheets for my workers to show them dimensions, electrical etc. I am having some issues understanding how it works in regards to size and printing. I would be eternally grateful if someone has a few minutes or so to jump on a zoom with me have a look at what I am doing and explain a few things. I went through the video but for some reason I am not able to replicate the video properly. thanks in advance. Kindest Regards, Bret
  5. yeah it does, but didn't work. Followed that article.
  6. Hi all. I usually have someone do this for me but they are MIA. I have a set of plans that are in PDF format with scale, I import them into chief as a PDF, but when I try to trace over them teh sizes are incorrect, ie: the wall sizes don't match up. i understand I might have to scale them. I followed the FAQ on how to chnge the scale but that didn't work. Also when I zoom into the plan, all of the titles and headings start moving all over the place. See attached pictures. My goal is I have to recreate this plan in chief and don't want to freestyle it, but it seems like that's the only option right now. any advice would be great. the second picture that is zoomed in, you can see that the words just start crossing over each other. But as you normally zoom in on something like this, they should be farther apart.
  7. HI all. Doing a Mid Century modern kitchen in walnut. I have attached the screen shot elevation here with text info. ON the top cabinets above the window to the right of the pantry, the client want's sliding melomine doors which is cool, but she wan'ts to have 3 of the 6 doors to be coloured. I don't know how to colour 1 door on each cabinet so that I can show her what it looks like. Is there a way to do that? In the second picture, there are shelves that have a cool little design, and she want's to have a few sides coloured also, but not sure how to separate a panel to colour that one for the 3d view. Using Chief Premier X11 on Mac OSX catalina.
  8. @Solver not helpful. I know the difference between them, so maybe I should just be more clear. I duplicated the 'materials' subway which is under the 'materials/tiles' section of the core objects. Duplicated this 'material' and put it in my user catalogue. I edited the 'material' which showed line colour as gray, which is what the original material is. I changed that to black which you can see in the screenshot. then when I applied this 'material' to my wall, it didn't come up with the black weighted line. Using Chief x11 on a mac
  9. I have gone through the tutorial to create new materials based on existing. I have the subway tile that I copied and added to my user catalogue, I changed the 'line' colour to black to simulate black grout, but when I apply it to the material in the shower it doesnt' change, nor does it change in my user catalogue. I am having the same issue with the hexagon tile but with the size, I wanted the hexagons to be bigger. Any ideas?
  10. not sure how to do the ceiling structure. there are probably a few things missing as it is as I said only 2 rooms. Attached is the plan file. Using macosx. chief prem 11 - build 21.3.1.1 Daniele Kitchen.plan
  11. @solverno I haven't changed from the default. This is the default. @dshall I did try that, but there are no options to change the actual size,
  12. HI all. I have a kitchen that I am remodelling, and while I don't have the whole house in chief I have the kitchen and dining room dimensioned out. I need to create some layout framing plans for the city, but when I change my layerset to framing and choose the 'ceiling joist direction' tool and indicate the direction, I can only ever get 'cj 2x6 @ 16 O.C'. The ceiling joists are actually 2x8's? Thanks
