Yes those planes in your red circle are one continuous surface, and the Baseboard continues. I will try to get the stairs, landing, and step as one. Each time I did tho I had the railing on the single step. Might make my life easier.
-
Spoke to soon, I can get it to work and renders properly but on save and reopen it disappears.

Thanks All!

This worked. Doesn't Flush up exactly but I was able to get what I needed. I didn't uncheck room def because I wanted to keep the Baseboard.

The stringer is flush with the Sheetrock surface now. Both the wall under the stairs and the full height wall surfaces are flush. The reason I didn't do the stairs as a unit was I was not able to remove the railing on the right with the single stair when built as a unit.

I have tried it both ways, open underneath check and not checked

Closed and re-zipped. Correct the wall under the stair is being a pain. Is that just an alignment issue? 1912531 - Botsch - Kitchen Renovation - Existing (2).zip

I am trying to add finished wall underneath a stair. The staircase is built and the railings are all what and where they need to be. When the full height wall ends tho, the wall then continues underneath the stairs. I have tried going in Cross Section cameras and "pulling" or editing the wall surface points, but when i do the first few balusters disappear. I have attached pictures before I edit the wall surface in Cross Section and after, as well as the plan file. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, maybe the 50 below zero temps in Wisconsin fried my brain and it's a simple fix. 1912531 - Botsch - Kitchen Renovation - Existing.zip

Oh Man - This would be nice to see in X10

Am I missing something or is it not possible to modify frameless cabinets in the latest version of X9 with 5/8" Sides?

Seems so easy now, thank you very much

Seemingly I am probably overthinking this, but can you create custom line styles? An example being a line that instead of having the "110 V" text in the line you can add any text that applies? I have tinkered a little bit and can't seem to make it happen. Thanks

I see he asked a question for his software, but in reality they are the same in my opinion. And I have also found issues with PDF imports. When you import a PDF with the name "File" that was created in Word or Excel or any other program that is saved to a PDF there is an issue with importing - or re-importing. Say I imported "File" which contains some data, then if I update that document with modified data and again save it as a PDF. When you attempt to change or update the file path to reflect the new updated version, it doesn't change. The original imported document will always be there, regardless if it has been saved in plan or not. The only way to change the document to the updated version is to assign a new file name each time the document is modified. This has been a problem for me on projects where multiple people are involved and make changes or expect to see changes. Keeping track of files names and having sometimes many of them is daunting and often leads to an error. It would be nice if you could refresh that file to show the new data, even if that file has the same name. And there seems to be no place to edit imported files

Walls - Intersections - Custom Walls - Dwg Imports

I wish I could, I can't distribute the entire CAD File I was only able to get permission for the screen shots of limited views. -
Walls - Intersections - Custom Walls - Dwg Imports

Alright - I think I may have figured out a solution, maybe not a proper solution but this is my idea. All the files I received are CAD files in DWG, so when I import them I get CAD lines and boxes. Instead of trying to rebuild the walls in the entirety I have traced all the interior walls with a room divider (that way outlets and objects will snap to them). Then I just filled the CAD lines with Solid Polylines with the proper Fill Style. I am pretty sure this is not the best or correct way but I think it will work for what I need. Anyone have a different idea that may be better? Thanks to everyone who replied. -
Walls - Intersections - Custom Walls - Dwg Imports
Keith_A replied to Keith_A's topic in General Q & A
These are all existing Masonry type walls in an existing structure. The thickness varies from 12", 14" 18" to 30". The problem I am having is the wall intersections and getting them to "shape" and follow the lines of the existing structure. I can build the correct thickness wall, but controlling how and where the walls connect is the issue that is the greatest difficulty. I have tried every combination of wall intersection edit handles that I can think of and none of them will produce the proper connections. One the angle bay style wall I have tried every type of varying thickness wall to redevelop that layout. Surface layers aren't an issue as the plans i am responsible for don't require layer details, just placement of fixtures, cabinets, electrical, etc.. The wall legends for the existing walls just show Adjust CMU Walls as per plan. -
I have a plan that was sent from the Architect in a DWG plan file that I need to duplicate and build out. I am having the most troubling time with walls and automatic connections, intersections, and the like. I have tried to do the simple version of no wall layer and just a main layer, tried layers with appropriate dimenions, and I am at a loss. What methods would you use to create walls like this
-
Can we still not snap to Framing? I am really looking forward to this

The one issue I see that hasn't been covered is fixture placement. There is alot of variance which will require a good bit of plumbing when you could use common walls and simplify the rough plumbing required. I also agree, Laundry Room too big, Entry too small, Master Configuration awkward.

Ok I have played with this for awhile now. Is it possible for schedules to follow only a specific layer set. If I have a layer for outlets and one for emergency lighting that seems like an easy fix. Have schedules that only include items visible on the layer set. Can this be done?

I have tried a few of these suggestions (the first one was greek to me so I didn't understand or attempt that), the problem i am finding is losing room definitions plays havoc on the rest of the finished plan. I was hoping it was as easy as making a group of rooms into one schedule (minus the room names) for a cut list of materials per unit, almost like making an architectural block of rooms. I will keep playing but exactly what i am going for doesn't seem possible without compromising the plan elsewhere. Thanks everyone.

I am currently working on a apartment complex plan, and since upgrading I have found alot of the features to be useful; including schedules. The trick I have not yet learned is how to add a schedule that is specific to each unit number. Lets say Unit 1 has a Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen, and Living Room. The Electrical Schedule will let me select the Unit that I have assigned a room name of unit 1, but if I name all the rooms inside Unit 1 as Unit 1 when I add a schedule it does not group the rooms. I can add an individual schedule for each room named Unit 1 but not 1 schedule that includes all the fixtures for that entire apartment. I am hoping to avoid multiple schedules per unit because it makes it hard for quantity counts to be overlooked. Is there a way to group a set of rooms together and have a schedule for that group of rooms that only has one line per material item? Thanks in advance, I appreciate your help.

I tried both solutions and they both worked, the problem was the Cabinets countertop height was set to zero due to the custom countertop. So changing it back worked, and the offset also worked as work around. Thank you both

Been working on a Kitchen Design and I have a custom counter in play and when I add a Cooktop or Rangetop to it the appliance sits at the top of the cabinet and not at the top of the counter. I have tried adjusting settings but I can't seem to manipulate it. Do I need to break the top instead of having it continuous? I thought of that but then the back side looks horrible. Any ideas? Thanks

Was importing some fluff 3D images in a design I was playing around with. Then I suddenly got this message (Picture attached). I have restarted already to no avail. I also tried several different 3D Objects if matters. Has anyone seen this before.
