So sorry, Solver! I put the image in the zipped file. I was very unclear about that in the way I worded it. Doug Maddox fixed my file for me in my other post, so the "impeding roofs" issue is resolved. Thank you for pointing out my confusing message.

Thank you, Solver, for catching my outdated signature! I've corrected it. Doug! You're my hero!! You have saved the day by fixing everything for me! It looks so great! I'm really so unfamiliar with roofs that I don't know enough about eave heights and overhangs. When it comes to roof pitches, I tinker with numbers until each one "looks" right (I know... terrible!). Rest assured, I'm not creating blue prints or truss designs for anyone - obviously! Just simple renderings for friends to convey their visions. I do wish I understood the "construction" of roofs better in Chief Architect. I have watched many tutorials, but my real job keeps from diligently practicing what I learn. I'll keep at it and try not to be too embarrassing in this forum! Haha! Thank you again!

This is my second roof question post, as I did not want to bombard the forum with too many questions in one post. I’m hoping these questions are related enough to justify including them together. In the attached plan, my manually-drawn roof planes do not “marry” together well. I’m including images that illustrate the connections, lack of connections, overlaps, and other unattractive issues. Is there one thing I’m doing wrong, or is each image a separate problem? Perhaps there is an ideal tutorial you can direct me to that would solve everything…? Each image does contain a “separate” question, but, in my head, it’s all related to roof plane connections. However, if I need to break these into individual posts, I am happy to do so. This is what happens when an interior designer ventures outside. I apologize ahead of time for my extreme lack of knowledge. I have a house (plan is attached) with multiple roof issues. To avoid asking more questions than I should in one post, I’ll break this into a couple posts. First, how do I stop the roof from effecting the inside of the house. In the attached image, you see that the eaves (I think that part is called the eaves…?) are jutting into the house. Also, the shed roof is causing part of the ceiling to slant, but I want the entirety of the inside to maintain a 9’ ceiling height. Over the years of using Chief Architect, I know I have seen tutorials that address these issues. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the fix, nor can I track down the tutorial(s) that contains the information. Thank you in advance for the help! ImpedingRoofs.zip

Is there any way to have that same gable facing the out the back side of the house that faces out the front? Not sure if that questions makes sense...

I have a house with end gables on the roof. I have somewhat successfully placed a front-facing, center gable in the plan. However, the back of this center gable is not “closing up” properly. The side gable adjacent to it has turned into a ski slope with a gaping hole in the roof. And, I don’t understand why the peak of the center gable would be shorter than the peak of the perpendicular roof (if I should post this as a separate question, please just let me know). I have other questions regarding this roof, but I will address one problem at a time. I believe I have attached my plan, pictures, and my signature should include all pertinent information. Just in case my signature is not on point, I am using Chief Architect X12. My PC is Windows 10, Intel i9-9980xe, 128GB of RAM, NVIDIA Titan RTX LenhartPlan09142021.plan

Thank you so much for such a speedy reply! I tried the 4" pitch, but a 2" pitch was closer to my ideal end result. However, my roof is overhanging extensively. I did modify the length of the overhang in the wall DBX, but it made no change. How should I bring the overhang in?

I would like to cover my front deck with a shed roof. I actually built three front decks so that the sides could be a shed roof and the center could be a gambrel. The body of the house has a gambrel roof, as well. I'm not sure if building three separate decks was correct...? I'm attaching pictures that illustrate the problem I'm having. My attempt at a shed roof causes many problems. I have more details typed in the images for an easier reference. Also, one image is a "rough" example of the shed roof I'd like to create. Please let me know if I'm not providing enough information, and thank you in advance for your help.

I am using Home Designer Pro X11, and I cannot get the "Adjust Material Definition" tool to work for me. Specifically, I want to change a simple offset tile pattern to herringbone. I choose "Adjust Material Definition" from my toolbar and make the changes in the dialogue box. Unfortunately, nothing updates in the 3D view of the dialogue nor does it update in the plan. I have reviewed the documentation for this feature, and I can't find anything that I'm doing wrong. Why does it not update to herringbone? The colors won't even update. Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

I feel silly asking this as I know I most individuals in this forum are MUCH more advance than I with this program, so please forgive my simplicity. I am just starting to dabble with Chief Architect, and I can't change my dimensions. I select the line, I hover over the measurement, I try to select the number, I have watched quite a few videos. I don't understand why it doesn't just open the box that allows me the manually enter the dimension for that wall. I've had the program for a few months and have not been religious at using it. However, when I first used it, I was indeed able to edit dimensions. What has changed? What am I doing wrong now?
