  1. Thanks rlackore.
  2. Hi, Can anyone tell me the correct term for this type of residential floor system? I always considered it a post and beam system but when googling it I find completely different systems associated with that term. I've seen it here in the Pacific NW and wonder if it's region based. Thanks, Tony
  3. Hello, ISSUE RESOLVED! I have a small issue with my floor framing. I've checked what I thought would work but still getting odd results. The subfloor is showing as small joists sitting on top of the regular ones (see pic) I've created a new test plan and all is good. I know I'll slap myself after I realize the fix is easy but it's Monday... Any ideas what I might be missing? Thanks for your time.
  4. OK...as soon as I posted this I went into my plan and sure enough, I walked down the stairs. It must be a position / view angle / whatever that made it work. All good but still don't know the secret. I did turn on wall bumping. That was probably it.
  5. Greetings Chiefers, I'm pretty sure I've walked up and down stairs before in full camera view but now no go. Certainly not the end of the world but I need to know if it was a dream or reality. Thanks Enjoy your evening, Tony
  6. Thanks Charles, I refreshed and saw your post. Amazed I've gotten this far without realizing that.
  7. I figured it out. Just a matter of checking and unchecking the framing box. Thanks again Solver.
  8. Thanks Solver. I made the changes. I must clarify. I added a signature to my profile but your graphic was a little vague. I changed the OSB to lumber but no luck, I tried a different OSB, still no change. I'll keep working on it.
  9. Hi everyone, Long time user so good there. I'm have a small issue here. My subfloor isn't building with i-joist...fine with dimensional. The project is on an older A-frame house that had wings added in the early 2000's with two different floor depths, one for each wing, tied into the original floor at same level. Kitchen floor done with 14" and bedroom with 11-7/8". Default is set to the 11-7/8" with 3/4" OSB on top. I'm using room specification to make the adjustments to the kitchen floor depth. When I build the framing I am getting a 3/4" joist on top of the 14" and 11-7/8" joist but no subfloor. Now, it's going to be 103ish today in central Oregon and my little air conditioner isn't really pulling its weight so it's warm in my room. Maybe the heat is clouding my ability to figure this out so I'm seeking a little help. Appreciate it. I just realized my plan is over 22MB so here is a sample that replicated my issue just simply setting the default and building the floor framing. Thanks, Tony Untitled 2.plan
  10. Michael, Worked like a charm. As you can see from the pic I still have corners to do. They are glazing to the corners so I may just do standard rectangular and leave it at that since the scope for the project is in the back.
  11. Ahhh, very good. Thanks again.
  12. Thank you for the idea Solver for the video Alaskan_Son. That will do perfectly. It didn't cross my mind to go the symbol route. I've never had the need to use that option but it's going in my "this is another way to get stuff done" bucket. Appreciate the time you took to make the video. I'll definitely pay it forward. Note: Unfortunately, I'm still on X10 (boss hasn't upgraded yet) and the "convert selected to symbol" option isn't available. I think it's time to upgrade! Many Thanks, Tony
  13. Hello Everyone, Not sure about this one. I've looked but no success short of calling Chief. I have a window shape that I'm able to create with the window tools but it's rotated 90º. I need the wider portion at the top. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tony
  14. Hi Everyone, First, Thanks for all the help you've given throughout this forum. You make life a little bit easier, Now, I couldn't find this so is there a way to get the ceiling drywall to sit on top of the wall drywall at the corners. I cad my sections and it would be nice if I didn't have to redraw those intersections every time. Thanks
  15. Haha, Thanks Tiger, it was my typing speed! And since I'm on the slower spectrum of that talent I wasn't making the connection. All is good now. Now, back to work!
  16. Hi Everyone, First, I would like to thank you all for posting here. I have found many answers to my questions in the past without having to post questions. I've posted once previously. Still would like to learn more about the construction side of things if only to better understand what I'm drawing. I've only been drawing (off and on) about 6 years so still much to learn. My question today though is about the software itself. Is anyone having time issues when doing a search in the Library Browser? When I start typing the first or second letter the little blue spinning ("please wait I'll be right with you") icon pops up. My wait times have been between 30 and 45 seconds. Is this normal. I have a relatively fast machine Windows 10, i5, 8gigs, etc. Is there a setting in Chief or Windows that might help speed up the search process? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tony
