I believe cabinets and their automatically produced countertops have always done that. I also think you're fighting this particular battle for no really good reason. If I were you I would remove that countertop edge molding profile from the cabinets, group select the cabinets, click Generate Custom Countertop, resize the top as needed, and then add the molding to your countertop.
Thank you, I should of thought of that in the first place

Ive been designing and modeling a few pieces of furniture and builtins here in chief and for some reason I'm having issues with countertop overhangs when a cabinet is butted to another cabinet that is a different depth. Ive attached a photo, but ive never ran into this issue in x9. I have countertops set in my defaults to be the same all the way around, but for some reason when a cabinet is placed adjacent to another, the cabinet with the larger depth will not carry the correct overhang to its adjacent cabinet.

Questions belong in General Q&A, please.
Draw a polyline solid in elevation representing one leg of the triangle. Copy/Reflect About the cabinet center to form the other leg. Copy/Reflect About the fireplace to place in the other cabinet.
Sorry didn't know where to post, thought this would be the best section. But i think I figured it out, thank you for the advice.

Alright guys need a few suggestions... So I'm a custom woodworker and I'm building built-in bookshelves and a mantle unit for a customer. Normally I'm able to come up with certain techniques in modeling custom millwork projects that are "out of the norm" or beyond the standard cabinetry presets here in chief, but this one is a little more complex.... The unit I'm building consists of floor to ceiling bookshelves with a fireplace surround and mantel in the center. So far easy to do.. but in this particular build the customer wants the bookshelves to have angled dividers/faceframe-stiles that the shelving will go in-between. I've attached some photos to this post so you can have a better idea of what I'm doing here. I build everything custom so I know exactly how I will build the unit, I'm just unsure of how to create a model for it here in chief. I'm assuming id use some sort of 3d polyline to create the angles, but I'm not too familiar with using this feature. It would be nice if I could somehow use a partition and angle it in between two cabinet sides, and manually add shelving in between. If anyone has any ideas id be eager to hear...

Hi Ryzen and All!
We leveraged a utility to scan all of the Core Materials and are feeling much more confident that all of the Roughness, AO, and Normal maps are also included in this latest update to files on our server.
Please run "Update Library Catalogs" and re-launch Chief one more time to activate the most recent files.
The inability to adjust the roughness slider is a behavior of Roughness Maps. If a Roughness Map is used for a material's specification, it usurps the roughness slider controls, using only the values that are embedded in the map itself. If you would like to bypass this, and instead control the roughness via the slider interface, simply delete the Roughness Map file association. You are/were seeing this path in red text because that file was not being found on your system. I'm hoping with this latest update, that particular part of the confusion will be resolved.
Once again, thank you for your understanding while we sort this out. I hope the improvements to the materials will out-weigh the inconvenience you have been facing.
The update has now fixed the issues! Very relieved... thank you! PBR looks amazing btw, your team did an awesome job.

I love the new pbr renderings, definitely a plus. However I've been having some major issues in x10 regarding the material library and its core content. I am missing many texture properties in my wood and flooring categories. Support came out and said they fixed this, however this is not the case. If anyone else is experiencing please let me know and report, I'm hoping they can fix this ASAP.

You can see on the before image of this kitchen the texture and grooves of the wood floor. If you look at the above attachment, it is washed out and has no definition with the seams in the wood. I would include more photos but I am at my limit. I do have another post with the rest here -

I've updated my support ticket about this as it was closed after the last library updates.
If they get back to you, let me know what they say

I've just checked and although the recent updates fix the missing texture icons in the library browser when using those previously affected materials I get the same missing file warning you get. The material then looks likes its applied but in fact some details are missing:
Maybe other people aren't trying the materials out fully.
Thats what I was thinking, thank God im not the only one..

I'm not sure why this fix is working for everyone else but me.....
-
I've updated several times, still no fix for any of my issues. Very upsetting
-
Ugh I'm so frustrated right now haha, its gotten to pretty much all of my materials. Even tile, vinyl sheets, and laminate... Played with every setting available, all of my roughness maps, and ambient occlusion maps are missing. In this plan my flooring has skewered itself for some reason. Grout lines are huge, tried adjusting scale and patterns also... And this is happening in new plans as well.

Jim and All,
We updated new files to our server recently to support some new materials, and accidentally posted the wrong file. The correct file should be on the server now.
Ryzen, it is possible that it takes some time for the file to populate to the server you are accessing. You may want to try again in a few minutes to run the Update from the Library Menu, and then make sure you re-launch Chief Architect (the files won't refresh until you restart the program).
If this continues to fail for you, we can work through the Support Department to find a good solution.
Best,
Okay sorry to keep this thread going but I updated the catalog, restarted chief, and no fix... This time around it does show everything available in the library browser. However, it pops up an error message when I actually try to use the material in a plan. Ive screenshotted the message and will attach. I was able to open an old plan up with a maple flooring plank style I used in the beta version, but now it looked to drastically affect its texture and depth. Ill attach a screenshot of the version before the update and what its giving me now....

Ryzen, these Ray Trace settings are really just different defaults that you can set up in your Profile Template.
We removed the Quick option from the Out Of Box Templates because we had many users confused by the dark looking metals and lighting effects that happen when Photon Mapping is turned OFF. If you prefer to have a preset for quicker Ray Traced scenes in your defaults, you can set a new one up in your Profile called "Quick" with the Photon Mapping setting disabled.
Ah I see, makes sense
-
This is off topic, but will the quick ray trace be coming back or is it all high quality interior and exterior traces now?

I didn't lose any textures. I'm curious what the rest of you guys are doing differently than me. Were all of you installing X10 for the first time? Or do you completely uninstall and reinstall at every update?
Updated from beta to full release version, the textures were there and working untill I decided to update the catalogs afterwards. Then they were missing. I'll try re updating once I get home now that they have fixed the issue

Okay All,
I believe we have resolved the issue. Apologies for the confusion and inconvenience.
To get to latest files for the updated materials, please run the "Update Library Catalogs" command from the "Library" menu inside Chief.
You should see some files download.
Once the download completes, relaunch Chief Architect. The textures for the updated materials should now show properly.
The materials affected where primarily those that got an update in X10 which includes the categories of "Siding", "Wood Flooring", and "Wood".
Thanks for sticking with us while we worked through this.
Best,
Unfortunately this did not fix the issue
-
Does anyone know if chief is aware of the issue yet? I've heard nothing back from support

I experienced this with my siding materials this morning when I uploaded X10.
Hopefully they come up with a fix!

Well played around a little more and turns out that not only is my hardwood flooring gone, nearly half of my wood materials are missing all together..
-
So today I was able to update my x10 beta to the full version. After doing so I updated my library catalogs as well, and for some reason all of my hardwood flooring options associated with the core library are now missing.. I tried re downloading the core content as well as updating again to no avail. Which is a bummer because now all of my old projects are missing their floors... Has anyone else ran into this? I wouldnt think chief would get rid of its flooring features, as they actually added to their hardwood library with the beta.

X10 is definetly worth the update, it had a few kinks they had to work out at first, but most of them are fixed now. The only issue I had as someone else pointed out on here, is ray tracing does not work as well with the materials optimized for the new pbr feature. However with that being said, pbr rendering can look just as good if not better than ray tracing with the right materials and lighting used (plus there is no wait).
