Solver I wonder why it won't let me> When I try to place it in the gable it automatically places at window height. The room divider and transforming to a symbol recommendation appear to be coming along I just have to manually move it to the right location in plan view to align with the wall cladding properly.

Dermot, For some reason chief will not allow the vent to be place directly in the gable wall (maybe because it is auto generated?), so yes I can only place in the wall and drag up to the gable.

Here is the rub. In order to convert to a symbol it must be the only thing visible in 3d mode. Because technically it is a window it has to be placed in a wall and if I turn the wall display off poof the window/gable vent is also turned off. If I attempt to convert with the wall on, it converts both the vent and wall into a symbol.

I am about to just delete them and add a note. Need to get these plans off to the engineer by the morning.

Thanks Joey, but my sales people are easily confused... It would be helpful if I could just not display it or else next thing I know I will have some crazy mulled window on site..

If I change the layer to something I am not displaying in this layer set I get the void in the wall.

Circled is showing the gable vent between 2 first floor windows, I have turned the label off for it and taken it out of the schedule,, but just cant get it not to show in the wall.

Yes they are technically up a level but there is no option to view on level above with windows Ranch With trusses.plan

Yes they are in attic walls and I tried to to switch between displaying and not displaying the attic walls to no avail.

X-10 This is probably something simple that I am just overlooking, but I am having trouble not displaying gable vents in plan view. I have attempted to simply change the layer from window to something else that I am not dispylaing, however when I do this it leaves a void in the wall where the vent would be. Any suggestions?

In the area of Florida where I work it is common to have to have 1x4 exterior casing on the side (legs) of doors and 1x6 or 1x8 on the top (header). Does anyone know if it is possible to achieve this in Chief?
