how to transfer custom toolbars to new computer running x14
brianhf replied to brianhf's topic in General Q & A
VHampton. I believe this worked perfectly. Thank you for your response. Best wishes, Brian. -
I have read the toolbar backup instructions, but I seem to be doing something wrong. I am trying to copy my custom toolbar configuration from one pc running x14 to a new computer running x14. I have access to the old pc and the unchanged x14 version. To backup my toolbars (such as to a thumb drive), do I just copy the "toolbars" file from chief architect data file and then paste into the new computer at the same location? or do I copy/paste certain files from the toolbars file? Also, there seems to be some procedure to "switch to" extended toolbar configuration. Thanks for your help. Brian

608 E Brown plan prelim.zipAuto rebuild roof is not working. I can rebuild by checking "make roof baseline polylines", and going through the roof building steps, but the auto feature seems to be using the old baseline. How do I tell the program to make new baselines automatically? I tried to upload the plan file but I am getting an error. thanks, Brian.

Mick, The auto rebuild attic walls didn't seem to do anything, but I think I have stumbled into an elevation I'm willing to accept. Thanks so much for your help. Eric, thanks for your reply. Delete floor is a great idea to clean up a messy attic. Thanks for that.!!

All of my settings match yours, and the siding gable seems pulled to left. But It seems you have to have the brick frieze in both gables or none. Thank you for your response. Brian.

Kbird1, Thanks for your reply. That fixed the gap and the missing frieze, as well as the brick frieze below the return. What do you suggest for the brick frieze that is present but not correct in the upper siding gable? Also, odd gap on the top side of the full return (won't really show in 3d views anyway) I can remove the frieze from the roof plane, but it removes it from the lower brick gable where it does belong. Should I just draw a frieze manually using polyline solid? Thank you so much!!

Here is the plan in zip file. thanks, Brian. ramone niese plan 1.zip

I have a brick wall, and it has a gable wall above it that is siding. Full roof return. The gable siding wall is not building the correct thickness (seems to be using the brick wall thickness from below), and the frieze board in the gable not building correctly. I expect this issue is in my wall structure settings, but I can't figure it out. Screenshot. I would attach my plan file, but the system says it's too large. Thanks, Brian. X14

Chopsaw, Thank you very much for your reply. Best wishes. Brian.

I figured out my problem. I had two door schedules (hence the two door numbers), but each schedule had different features, such as room name, which resulted in different door numbers.
-
I am having a problem with door labels. I have "include schedule number" checked on the door settings, and I have "include schedule number" for the label set in the Schedule, but I am getting odd labels that do not make sense -such as D18, D16 - 3068. File would not upload, so here is Onedrive link. Thanks, Brian. https://1drv.ms/u/s!ApLoJtsNFkLMgrN9XfUXzWHo-HljFA?e=ZyJ83w

Ahhh.. I understand. Changing the brick wall to only build platform to outside of fir wall makes it build correctly. thanks and best wishes. Brian.
-
yes, that makes sense. My wall 1st floor and 2nd floor are set to build platform to outside of brick. I wonder if having the 1st floor wall set to gable is a conflict?
-
oddly, when I change the exterior wall to "interior wall", it builds correctly (only no brick)
-
I am having a problem getting the exterior brick to build at the truss location as pictured. I have checked all the structure settings, and the result shown is from auto roof. Please advise. Thanks Brian. file attachedTaylor plan 23.plan Taylor plan 23.plan Taylor plan 23.plan

I would like to import a photo to be able to use it over the fireplace as art. It appears that photos cannot be added to the library or viewed in camera view, but the art ( under materials> art> photos>objects) listed in the library was put there somehow? I am able to import the photo into plan view, but that doesn't get me anywhere. Thanks

That looks exactly right!! Thanks for your input. Appreciate. Brian.

Mark. Thanks for you input. I'll give it a shot. Brian

Yes, window and door like that, but no brick between. thanks, Brian.

Hello everyone. I am having a problem creating a store front type window/door installation. Chief will not allow me to arrange a door with a window directly above it where they are touching, as would be normal in a store front installation. I have tried changing the spacing between windows to "0" and removed all headers, cripples, etc. There is still brick displayed where it doesn't belong. Image and file attached.Ainsworth plan 8.plan thanks for any input. Brian.

Braneks. Thanks for your response. So all you did was rebuild the front dormer wall? As in delete and redraw? Sometimes Chief gets confused - particularly on complicated two-stories. The automatic walls sometimes put themselves in odd places. I very much appreciate your effort and that of all of the other respondents. Brian.
