I just opened your plan. Are you allowed to use 2x6 floor joists in your AO?
Chief adds joists under parallel walls above.....just like written in the IRC.
Thanks, thought the joists not under parallel walls above, Did not know the at irc require this for non-load bearing wall.
Not finished I am showing an existing house. The flooring is 4x6 @48" with 1.5" T&G on top and absolute boat load pers. Have only seen one other like this in my area.

I can fix this manually it always bothers me that chief randomly does this. I ask for the floor joist to be 48 inches on center. But for some reason chief always gives me much shorter spans between floor joists. Wondering why and how I can fix this going forward.

I keep getting strange results when I try 2 different ceiling heights in rooms that that touch. Not sure what i am doing incorrectly. The pic will explain better.

Thanks for your help.
Did not pay attention to the wood underneath the grade. Just trying to get the model to look right at this point we're not doing any work in the garage area. Did not understand the instructions about the pony wall and changing the wall type. I changed the wall type then tried the pony wall did not work for me.
Not sure why is this happening

Working on a story and a half condition and attic walls keep generating in front of the exterior retaining wall in creating strange artifacts.
I've deleted the attic walls a few times but they just keep regenerating. And overall I'd like to know why so I don't face these issues in the future. I tried the training video but they don't seem to be having this issue

Need some help with shallow dormers. I've tried the auto dormers following the manual dormer instructions (Creating a Manual Wall Dormer (chiefarchitect.com)) and a whole bunch of other things. But no luck. I'm trying to recreate a roof with very shallow dormers and sloped ceilings. I've spent almost double the time on the roof than rest of the model just can't get it right.
Would really appreciate it if someone could provide some better guidance. the roof creates sloped ceilings within the house and the dormers make it even more complicated. Photos of the interior and exterior are attached with the file.

Ok after a lot of back and forth canvas refunded me for that file. So that's in there favor. i think if the technology becomes better I can see my self using it more . As is its ok for some basic 2d floor plans that dont need to be spot on like realtors floor plans.

Here is a link to a video where I explain the caveats of the canvas scan.
FYI I am in the Bay Area as well, and even though it may feel like a rip off, the going rate for an as built is nearly triple the cost of a canvas scan for an accurate as built. So though I find it to be frustrating to fix the scans, it still offer a value service to some. I personally did away with my scan rigs as it is easier for me to draft it in the field with a helper.
FYI A matter port scan and conversion costs even more. For a home like this I charge roughly $1700 with a PDF and dwg. For what it's worth as a comparator. It would be a perfect model.YP that's why I have been looking to switching. And its only 1700 if you are not paying them to come out and do it, if you buy the Equpment much cheaper. Will give it a shot on the next one. Cant use as builts that are 10% per room.

I just had the worse experience with canvas, the output was bad, verry verry bad. Then they ripped me off on the price.
The scan is completely unusable the measurements are off by about 10%, my 1 story house is now 2 stores, strange objects and errors everywhere within in the CA file (attached). Simple thigs like stucco are showing up as siding. Walls form nonexistent first floor to through the second floor. Just garbage.
The home is about 1400 Sqft. As per the website the price was $0.20 + 0.05(extra .05 for exterior). Maby if we include the deck another 200 Sqft. Yet they charged me for 3600 Sqft. They made up a whole floor then charged me based on that.
When I contacted canvas, they blamed my scanning technique and offered to fix the file if is sent them the correct measurements. So they expect me to waste time to sending correct measurement ??
So far they have not responded to the price issue, but since the file is complete garbage I want my money back. Lets see where it goes will keep you posted.

Thanks. No engineer. I want to just make the beams in the middle equal distance form the foundation. Wondering if this was allowed. Did not see any thing in the code one way or the other.
-
Does building code allow latter transfer of ceiling load in floor joists? If a ceiling joist breaks on a wall, making it interior load bearing wall, but the ceiling weight is all that the wall is holding does it need direct support under it, per building code? Or can the support be a few feet over. Searched upcoddes and iccsafe and could not find an answer.

ok good idea thanks!!

I wanted to know if there was any way to force the railings place posts at 8" OC rather then evenly dividing them based on the wall length. For example, if I have my post spacing set at 96" and my railing is 10' long chief will place the posts 5' on center. I would like give me a post at 8' then at 2'.
I have added pics of the setting i thought was supposed to control.
-
I seem to be missing my railing framing for my porch both the posts and header are missing. Any Ideas to how to get them to generate?
-
I don't know if this is setting or bug in x13 but when I use the electrical layer set it does not fade the cabinets. I thought it was layer color setting but cant find it in there. When I change the color for any of the layer it only changes the line not the fill. If I opened one of my old plans form x12 and it displays correctly. If I copy form the x12 file then it shows up as with the same problem from x13
-
yes but when build it its still at 16OC should it not change in the grayed number as well?
-
Easily by bypassed but still wanted to know if I was doing something wrong or is this a bug in CA.
I was about to build the framing for a wall with 24oc studs, normally I just uncheck use wall framing material in the farming dialog and change the spacing. But thought I should try adjusting the wall itself because that would be useful for other projects that might have different stud spacing in different walls. So opened the wall and seams that stud spacing is controlled by the plan materials. Copied the existing fur stud material and changed its name and the spacing. but when i go back the framing dialog it still has stud spacing at 16oc.
I want to know if i am doing some incorrectly?

Working on a chamfered shower looks like the walls are poking through at angles. Cant seam to figure out how to get this to just cut them at 90. Looks strange. any one how to correct this? See attached pic.

Thanks to you both!!
And Solver you are awesome!! The video was a step above and beyond! I owe you lots of beer.

Ok so I am doing some thing wrong but cant figure this out.
I am trying to do a curved ceiling and opening to match like in the attached pic but the ceiling will not curve as in the Creating a Curved Barrel Ceiling (chiefarchitect.com) tutorial. I have tried many different setting and cant get it to work.

So I have client sent me the pic attached. Wants to see it in the rendering. I know I have run these items or seen them in various training videos. Mainly mosaic tile cross pattern marble tile with black centers. Any idea on what these things or any thing similar are called in the library ?
Or is there a better way to search for them? Or as just keep looking until you fined some thing lol.
Floor joist don't space equally.
