Tezt line with arrow - group level
Elder-Designer replied to Elder-Designer's topic in General Q & A
Ok - the post does not show the screen grab - having a great evening... Trying to post again... -
I am trying to create several CAD blocks and am using Text Line with Arrow. Might be wrong thing to use but is seems to be the right thing for a single line of text. However, it does unexpected things when used with a block of text. I cannot seem to bring the line up to the front of the Group (per right mouse menu) to ride on top of the text block. The end of the line that should place near the text seems to want to hide behind the text block. What am I missing? See attached screen grab - red lines indicate where arrow leader is hiding behind the text block and no amount of rightclick Group Front selection changes anything??? If I select to edit, the line end actually ends behind the text block? Thanks Ralph

Inside Out Walls - Editing Issue In 7?
Elder-Designer replied to Elder-Designer's topic in General Q & A
Glen, Was looking in the Wall Specification menus and could not find it. Reread your post and then found it. And thanks for the Alt+Q - I was not familiar but that will come in handy later. Also CA Suppot team responded and provided the same. Thanks to both! Appreciate! Ralph -
I have a plan that is giving me a few issues and could use some assistance. After multiple issues with Foundation and auto functions, thought I had things going well and ran into the latest twist. In the attached plan, when I edited the walls by the front door to the family room and added the windows in the upper right to the family room, I noticed a creeping issue. The walls in the upper right of the family room were flipped so the siding is now on the inside of the house. Then I noticed the kitchen wall on the right side flipped (on another redraw) and finally the top wall on the bedroom flipped. So now I have siding and insulation as wall coverings... Any Ideas on how I got this way and how to now solve without redrawing? BTW - on CA7 - loaded it last week. Do I need to go back to 6 with this plan - is 7 still a bit lacking? Yes i know there are some issues with roofing planes and the safe room and the walkway to the front door but did not think they would present this issue... Had to rough those in for a client meeting. Thanks Much, Ralph 20150325COR-8+3Wall.zip

Gee, I am a happy camper right now Have 7 loaded - using it to design a strucutre and had made a mistake on adjusting the foundation wall. Since I had designed multiple rooms in the basement (foundation) and had turned off AutoFoundation to create a Safe Room under the front porch, I foolishly realized my error on the foundation and turned on AutoFoundation to re-create the walls that I had messed up. Like majic - I now have a nice pristine foundation, no rooms, no Safe Room, nothing. AND I had saved after the AutoFoundation reconstruct as I was discussing with the client so now I have lost several hours of work. Very nice Chief. Your program is a real design aid. Lesson - DON'T EVER USE AUTOFOUNDATION if you do anything in or around the foundation... Use it only once and don't make any errors after that or you will pay a terrible price. And oh - there is NO WAY to tell it how to create things like Safe Rooms (a small need in areas that have tornados) so your on your your own after the one shot. Save me 10 minutes to cost me hours later... Great feature there - your program team wins over your customers... If I ran my business that way I would not be here. Yes - I do not understand how Chief works because I do not work that way. I would not delete everything in the foundation (basement) but then I am sensitive to things more than your team is. BTW - I was looking around to see how to create a Safe Room in the forums and unless someone calls them by some other name (a concrete porch or ???), I guess such a thing is a rarity to Chief users. My builders would not understand asking for an enclosed concrete room. Ralph
