Aslo, Alaskan_Son, is there a macro for linking drawings to titles in layout like its done in Revit. I mean if a I move a drawing from one sheet to the next can Chief automatically update all tags involved? Hope I'm clear enough?

I tried yours first and it works perfect. You can use this for larger plans that actually have a room finish schedule. For smaller plans where I wouldn't bother with a schedule I think Joe_Carrick's would work better.

Is there a way to tag rooms like you do windows and doors in a plan from the schedule?

Ooops sorry I'm in X12 now. And I think this is the first time I see the option to use the "Label Text" symbol so why am I not seeing it on the plan?

Is there an automatic way to tag room numbers assigned in the schedule? For example: the Foyer would be R01 but how do I get this to show up automatically on the plan?

Well SNestor, perhaps you've never worked for old school Senior Architects who back in the day insisted that their CDs looked exactly like the drawing board. If you're self employed and work only for yourself you'd have no issue whatsoever - I get that. But me on the other hand - I'm a CAD Technician who mostly sub contracts CDs for other technicians and Architects. Some of the Architects can be picky - especially back in the day before CAD CDs were really given their props. The thought back then was they were too mechanical looking so many tried to keep the drawing board flare with their CAD CDs. It's all nit picking if you ask me but I had to do it to survive. Now a days it seems the industry is way more sympathetic or should I say tolerant of the 'mechanical' look of the CAD CDs.

Wow, DavidJames - don't tempt me......yeah but I'm going to master Chief first like I should have from way back then I'll think about trying Revit or even ArchiCAD or whatever just to see the comparison. I'm focused on doing things the Chief way now. Should have done that years ago...smh (frigging AutoCAD...).

Yeah the real big deal is most of my work has been for Senior Architects who liked their drawings to look a certain way that was torture to produce in Chief. So AutoCAD helped with the finals and layouts. Also I was encouraged to never leave AutoCAD behind by an Architect I used to do sub drafting for. 

There are some little nit picking things that if Chief would focus on it would be great.

I remember back in the earlier Chief versions we had the ability to control the program on some level. Some of us wrote code and shared it to help manipulate the program as wanted. Is there anyone out there who has insight on how to manipulate the program in this regard?

Is there anyway in Chief to link Section and Detail and Elevation numbers like how Revit does it? I was almost tempted to get into Revit just for this reason. Can we do this in Chief? I mean especially to the level that as you move, add or delete details and elevations all numbers are automatically regenerated? If not I'd think Chief would go to the head of the class if they did this.

Okay, I'm officially divorcing AutoCAD! Just sick and tired of the tireless back and forth - especially with a plan that's constantly revised. It's literal self mutilation and the abuse has finally led me to seek my divorce. No more torture!

Just to give you a little back ground - I've been using Chief from Version 6 in 1999. Back then my user name was 'cadstudio'. This dreadful marriage has led me away from the good life I had potential to in Architecture. 

SO I'll be posting questions on how to get up to pace with the real power of Chief Architect.

Just re-installed X8 after a crash and I'm not getting my icons. I tried to reset defaults and still nothing. HELP! Please.....
