Got it. I'll look for that forum and put that down as a suggestion.

Thanks for your reply DB. That is correct, the pattern can be set by adjusting the H & V offsets, but this is the futzing around that I described as 'painstaking'. ;-) I also agree that one could use a different pattern, and have actually done this approach for other projects, but unfortunately for this jurisdiction in particular, they specifically want the 'large X' used across the entire block and each block tagged with a letter in a box and finally provide a schedule. As much as I hate comparing different software, I know other programs allow you to set the start point of a hatch pattern by use of a grip and maybe, hopefully, CA can take this suggestion as an improvement to fill patterns. All great suggestions though, greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Ben. I tried the cross box but unfortunately that route didn't work. With a cross box, you aren't able to reshape it the way you can a polyline. It was a while ago that I tried that approach so my recollection may be hazy, but I think I also could not label the cross box (I may be wrong). Lastly, I think I also wasn't able to schedule the cross boxes. I could use the two cadlines as well but then I can't really schedule those the way the jurisdiction wants us to provide them. Here is the example of the schedule. I was trying to make these polylines useful to tag the spaces and pull areas and schedule.

Hello all, I'm looking to see if CA, or anyone, has found a way to set the origin of a hatch fill. I'm working in a jurisdiction that wants a plan view that blocks out areas with "X's". I used a polyline and hatched it with a cross grid, but moving the origin to the center of the box (roughly) was painstaking (see example below). Hopefully if this is not a feature in CA, maybe this can be added to the program? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Are you creating 'dummy sheets' for your consultant's drawings, or importing their PDFs onto your layout sheets so that your drawing index includes their sheets? This can be cumbersome work. Take your architectural Sheet Index and copy/paste. Keep the original table for the sheets under your purview. Select the new one, right click and select Schedule to Text (third from the bottom). This will 'explode' the table into editable text and you can then edit the information to match your consultants sheet index. You can remove and add to it and the boxes will be created. I also change the header to consultant's discipline as Structural, Civil, Landscape, etc. See example below. Hope this helps you with your workflow. Thanks,

Can we change from inches to Feet-Inches in dialogue boxes.

Thank you good sir. That did it. -
I'm not going to bore you with my history of 25+ years of CAD program usage, but will say that Chief by far is the easiest one to use right out of the box (yes, we used to get a box with disks, manuals, certificates, etc., not like today with the ease of 'Download'). I looked into Softplan and compared it to Chief and found that Chief was just a better program. There's a good tutorial on YouTube that goes through an entire project start to finish. It's a little over 1 hour but shows you a ton of the features. I agree with Michael, it's time to jump ship. Good luck.
