Tutorial dimensions

For anyone at my beginner level:

On the  Getting started written Tutorial I had trouble on the second floor getting the dimensions to match the tutorial. 

Just going around typing in the dimensions changed one or more dimensions over and over. Finally I tried actually moving some walls and it worked. In my case the side walls of the bump outs did not match and I had to manually move walls to make it work. After that I could go around matching the numbers.

 

Also

On that tutorial- pages 30-32 about, the instructions tell you to merge walls to  apparently create a balcony. However, you may notice the walls above the first floor garage turn pink. they disappear. They do not tell you to merge or delete. The answer is to delete as the garage does not have a second floor. I had drawn in my second floor walls first but- it did not matter and was not the cause of the dimension mismatch. That was eventually solved as above.
