I've been battling on how to do it and cant seem to find a way. I know how to do the arched doorway but cant seem to make the same effect as the picture on where the ceiling is arched as well alongside its opening. I probably wouldn't suggest using the wall niche route since it doesn't work well with the flooring and room molding, but it is an option.
