Virginia Custom Home Builder Seeking Designer/Estimator

Design Craft Homes Inc., Central Virginia's Premier Design-Build Firm, is looking for a Full-Time in-house Designer/Estimator with at least 3 years’ experience creating plans for Residential Custom Home projects. We are located in Locust Grove, Virginia (Orange County).

 

Duties Include:

• Work with clients and sales staff to develop a schematic house plan on the customer’s lot. Use Chief Architect X8 to create a plan and elevations, and often, preliminary site plans from surveys or public data.

• Prepare a preliminary construction cost estimate based on the designed house plan.

• Produce interior and exterior views of the house using software for clients so they can visualize their new home.

• Prepare (or have prepared) final working drawings, project specifications and related documents for field personnel to use in construction.

• Coordinate/assist design of structural elements (truss & floor system, foundation)

• Prepare custom element selections (built-ins, etc) for customer approval.

• Review structural shop drawings and check for accuracy.

• Develop solutions for problems that arise during construction and assist in their implementation.

• Maintain drawing currency and update contract documents as necessary.

• Explore new products and work with on staff interior designer to include them in our inventory.
