In the wall layer wall settings, what does the "Build Platform to Exterior of Layer" setting mean?

Hi all, I have a plan with ICF exterior walls with a thin stone tile facing. Whenever I use a stone material in Chief for an exterior wall, there are large gaps between exterior doors and door lintel area. If I change the exterior material to stucco for example, the gap disappears automatically. Is there a way to eliminate this gap in the first place for my stone material? Thanks!
