i think that is only the case if you navigate to it using the little arrows, and not clicking on the catalog? ..or at least that what happened when I tried it.

once I click on any other catalog it shows in the filter. so how did you click on something without clicking on the catalog it is in?

Yes, you can open a catalog without clicking on it if you just click on the arrow next to it.

I think that is by design, if I click on an individual item, I already know what I am on so i do not need it to show in the filtered results. the filtered results look like anything other than a click on a individual item

Ok, but when you click on a catalog and all the items show in the Filter results, if you click on an item in a different catalog, it doesn't change. The items from the first catalog still show in the Filter Results. If this is by design, I just think that the way it was done in past versions is better and easier to view items.

  3. Is anyone else having an issue with the Library Browser in X15  When clicking on individual items they are not showing up in the Filter Results. If you click on the catalog all the items in it display but if you click on an individual item it doesn't display. I remains showing all items in full catalog.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is it a know issue with X15 Beta?

You have me curious where you were expecting the manufacturer name to come from.  Can you expand on that?  Were the cabinets or their doors/drawers pulled from a specific manufacturer catalog that you were expecting would be automatically recognized by the %manufacturer% macro?

The cabinets I have are from the Manufacture Catalog (Aristocraft). I just thought Chief uses that info to auto populate the field.

The %manufacture% macro just displays the info that you put into the "manufacturer" object information.  You have created an endless loop but apparently Chief already anticipated this and doesn't blow up.

So yes, you will have to manually enter the manufacturer name for all of your cabinets.  If you are using the same manufacturer for all of them, just group select them and type it in once.

There are also a whole bunch of manufacture cabinets available in the downloadable libraries.

Just like I thought.  So when you want to use a custom counter, you don't need to set the cabinet lower and turn off the automatic counter.  Just draw the custom counter over it.  It will replace the automatic one and it will be the shape you make it.

Oh, got it. I was unchecking the auto counter top and then adding the custom.

    Thank you.

In Chief, the cabinet "height" is always the box height plus the counter top height.  If your cabinet schedule is showing two different heights, then you have probably done something that you don't need to (like making one cabinet shorter).  You don't need to make your cabinet shorter to use a custom counter top.  If you just draw the custom counter over the top of a base cabinet the program will use your custom counter instead of creating an automatic one.  If you want your cabinet schedule to show the "box height", all you need to do is remove the "height" column and add the "box height" column.  If you actually want to build all of your cabinets at 35" instead of 36", then just set the cabinet height to be 35" and your counter top thickness to whatever you want.  If you set up your cabinet defaults this way, then it shouldn't matter whether your cabinet has an auto counter or a custom one.

You don't put %manufacturer% in the object information.  You put the actual name of the manufacturer, like "KraftMaid" or "Wellborn".  You can use %manufacturer% to extract the manufacturer name when you want to put it into a label or a custom macro.

All of this is just my best guesses, if these don't help you solve your problems, then I recommend that you post a plan (as suggested by Eric).

Thank you for the response. Using the Box height works. Just interesting to me that the schedule uses the total height (cabinet and Counter top) if its an auto counter top but only uses the box height if its a custom counter top. I think its confusing since you end up with two different heights.

As for the manufacture name, isn't the macro %manufacture% supposed to auto fill the name in the Manufacture column? Do I have to manually enter the name on every item ( every cabinet)?

  8. I'm a causal user so maybe I'm missing something but, on cabinet schedules it lists the cabinet as 36" including the counter top. Typically cabinets are 35". But if I use a custom counter top the cabinet is 35", which is the correct height. So on the schedule I end up with cabinets that are 35" and 36". Is there a way to set the correct height of the actual cabinet when auto counter top is checked  so all cabinets are consistent?

My other question is why isn't the Manufacture not filling in on the schedule? It shows %manufacture% which is the correct macro entered in the object information.

Many different ways to do what you are asking in a sense but it depends on what your desired end result is. WHY are you trying to join rooms? is it for the room label? is it for an elevation camera you are trying to detail? Is it for a crown molding you are trying to continue?
The why will give us an approach for answering you as this is an unusual request on its own

Main reason was to get one material list for both rooms, but I think I can get it using the Material List Area, although using that wont list the door or trim to the bathroom.

  10. How do I combine two rooms into one? I have a bathroom with a shower that is separated by a a pony wall with glass top. Currently the bathroom and shower are two separate rooms. Can I combine them so they are one room? I have X14 on Windows 11.

  11. Thanks. I got it now.

You might try this video...around 1:50 I start to describe the wall type and how the width controls where the jewels end up.  Hope it helps...

  12. Thanks guys. This wasn't the video I saw, but this and the others on your youtube were helpful.

As I understand this video, I have to create a rail wall that only has newels and make it wider. If I leave the rails they will also be wider. Then I have to create my own rails and balusters and save as a molding. Is this correct?

  13. There was a video posted on here a couple of months ago on how to properly extend the deck to fit over sized rails. Does anyone have the link to the video.

    thanks in advance.

It's one of the pre-made Macros you can insert into the Label under Object Specific.

Thanks. I don't know how I missed that. I also tried typing it in but forgot to add the _ . I'm learning.

If you make a Room Molding Polyline that takes over the default base molding, you can assign macros to its label.

Here I'm showing Visible Length and Perimeter.

Note how Perimeter minus the width of the door equals Visible Length.

How did you get the Visible Length?

  16. I wanted a fast way to get the total feet of base molding needed for a room. I realized that I could get it from the materials list after I posted the question but would still like to have a room perimeter macro. I couldn't find one for perimeter in the CA provided ones.

  17. Does any one have a macro for Room Perimeter? I'm not a professional CA user. I use it for small home projects and for fun so I haven't learned how to create my own macros yet. Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Thank you
