if the cheek wall extends under the roof, cut it, call out attic wall for the pcs under the roof

How about adding a shadow board same size as the rake, should cover up the rake with a sq. end, me thinks

Make sure that room (deck) is closed

Open this deck room and make sure it knows it's a deck

Go to the deck tab and make sure auto deck frame is checked

Go to "all on " layer set and select all on, again?

spin the house every which way and take a look,,,,

This is more of an observation than a question. The export to ResCheck is great idea but not unlike most new features it'll take a version or two to get it right IMO

From what I can see it would be much more beneficial If the export went to AreaCalc (ResCheck sister program). There's a lot to straighten out after the export and it would be much easier having all the envelop items separated as in AreaCalc then send it to ResCheck from there.

 

I'd be interested if anyone is using this feature with any consistency... TIA

Stick build it... make up a thin white wall, set angle, width, height (rm ht), window dims and all that stuff then select one wall  and set to no room def..

then lower the windows to fit your white  framed walls. on that exterior wall place a fixed glass to show the interior. old school

Hi Folks

Can't get the project browser to show up. By way of the view menu or the tool button. I have tried it with Side Window Drag Dock checked and unchecked. Also tried other than my custom tool bar configs (out of the box) with no luck.

I sure hope this is operator error!!

don't normally have a problem with ram on this machine,,, 12 gigs

From layout I went to select printer and found an entry in the printer list "Save as PDF" , never notice it before and don't know where it came from, dah, anyway it created the pdf almost instantly unlike the other pdf printers I tried that bogged down,,,who knew! "-)

sending the pdf to the 500 works I just leave out the layout page with the pdf's on it and print that page by it's self.... phew

End of the day trying to finish a plan up and never fails,,,,,, printing problem's

 

I drag and dropped a couple of PDF eng. reports onto the last layout page of the plan,,,, causing all sorts of memory problems with my HP500 hp /gl2 card.

Having the same problem printing to every PDF printer on this machine

 

I guess my question is, any way to decrease the size of those files, I tried turning them into jpegs thinking it might help but no go...

Chief gives each wall a number when exported to ResCheck, same number as displayed in the wall detail list. My question is,,, do u think there is any way to show the wall numbers in plan view?

You can also complete simple + and - calculations right in the DBX.  For example, if you have a 96" top height and a 42" upper cabinet, you can enter 96"-42" and either hit tab or enter and it will automatically calculate for you (54").

As far as I know, it is impossible to create a new layer in one layer set that does not exist in all layer sets.

 

It is possible to have different names in different layer sets though.  This is not the default behavior and it is highly recommended that you don't ever try to do this because it will only lead to confusion and frustration.  Open your preferences dialog, go to the Layers panel, and make sure "Modify Name In All Layer Sets" is checked.  (Note that this is not the same thing as the "Modify All Layer Sets" checkbox on the Layer Display Options dialog box).  Do not ever uncheck the preference for "Modify Name In All Layer Sets".  Eventually, this "feature" will be removed because it only seems to cause problems.

 

To determine if you have a case of different names on different layer sets, just open the Layer Display Options dialog.  Select the layer you have questions about.  Change the layer set using the drop down box at the top.  The layer should remain selected.  If the name is different, then your layer sets are messed up and in a very confusing state.  You should fix them or stop using this plan.

 

If this is not your problem, then I have no idea what your problem is.  I would recommend that you contact technical support for more help.  Posting a question like this is only going to lead to lots of random guesses but no one can know what the problem is without the plan file.

 

Regarding the "Modify All Layer Sets" checkbox on the Layer Display Options dialog, this only controls whether or not any changes to the layer attributes (such as line color, weight, or style) get transferred to the other layer sets.  It should not affect the names.

my preferences where set correctly and somehow still managed to add a layer that only shows up in the layer set I was in when I created the new layer,,,,, I dun no!  :-)

 

I'll send the plan in with the steps I took (try to remember) when time permits

Whoa - I just checked this and Chief certainly does add new Layers to every Layer Set without the Modify All Layer sets box checked.

at least I know  (assume ?) :-) it's not operator error  :-)

I new sompton looked screwed up,,,, and FYI I'm pretty sure if you make a change to a layer set and check the  "modify all layer sets" you'll mess things up royaly

Oh boy,  not sure if I agree with this,  I do want every layer in every layer set and I think CA is suppose to add every new layer to every layer set.

me either,,,,, the problem with that switch at the top of the layer set D Box "modify all layer sets" (pretty sure) also changes the line wts in all sets to the current layer set,,, I'm not touching that one!!!! :-)

when I have time I'll check it out with another plan.

If you actually created a custom layer it is not possible for it not to be listed, selectively in any Display Options, that is not happening, look again please.

Hoping someone can help me with this,,,,

I created a new layer while in an elevation view (adding some light blocks and stuff) to the exterior,,,,  this new layer only shows up in an elevation view on the "layer display options" layer list.

when In plan view and full perspective I open the layer display d box and this new layer is not there. This new layer is only visible in the layer set I was using when I created the layer!!!

Is this sompton new!!! I don't ever remember being able to do this b 4....
