I would like to be able to design in chief and send data to a total station software package for field layout and then be able to bring data back into chief. Right now I've looked at Carlson for the software and most others are based on Autocad format also. Is anyone else doing something similar to this today? what we have done to date is design in Chief export a dxf file into the Carlson software, build a point file, then go to site but i haven't been able to get data from point file back to Chief. I may be missing something very simple but i feel like im taking a lot of steps that can be avoided.
